Ridgefield NJ, on April 9, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the Motor Vehicle Crimes North Unit (MVCNU), as part of the Auto Theft Task Force, were alerted to a black 2023 Audi SQ8 stolen from Montclair, NJ, during a home burglary earlier that day. The vehicle was observed traveling through Newark before entering the New Jersey Turnpike and stopping at the Vince Lombardi Service Area in Ridgefield Borough.
All five occupants exited the vehicle and entered the service area building. Detectives entered the service area and apprehended all five suspects. Najee A. Jenkins, a 21-year-old male, two 16-year-old juvenile males, a 17-year-old juvenile male, all of Newark, NJ, and Nazir Moses, a 19-year-old male of Irvington, NJ, were all charged with receiving stolen motor vehicle in the 2nd degree, conspiracy to receive stolen motor vehicle in the 2nd degree and resisting arrest by flight in the 4th degree. Najee A. Jenkins and Nazir L. Moses were lodged in the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing. The three juveniles were lodged in the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center.
The New Jersey State Police Auto Theft Task Force would like to provide the following tips to minimize the chance of becoming a victim:
– Have a home alarm system that is armed and monitored.
– Do not leave keys in your vehicles.
– Do not leave vehicle keys near the entry doors of your residence.
