Ridgefield NJ, a Bergen County judge has denied the release of Julio Amaro-Vasquez, 33, of Ridgefield, who is accused of attempting to strangle an 11-year-old girl. The decision came during a detention hearing on June 26, where Judge Vincent Militello ruled that Amaro-Vasquez should remain in jail while awaiting trial.

The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Fairview Police Department under the direction of Chief Vincent Bellucci.

Ridgfield NJ, at approximately 6:10 PM on March 11th 2024, the Ridgefield Fire Department was requested at the intersection of Broad Avenue and Ray Avenue for a car into a building smoking. Units would arrive on scene to find a single car motor vehicle crash into 805 Broad Avenue (Ridgefield Fire Company 1) with significant building damage. The driver of the SUV refused medical attention and the vehicle was taken by city tow. The cause of the mva remains under investigation by the Ridgefield Police Department.
