Ridgewood NJ, The adult female driver of a black colored Chevrolet Traverse escaped injury when a NJ Transit bus slammed into her vehicle’s open driver’s side door in front of 144 East Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood on Tuesday afternoon, 07/18. Damage done prevented the door from being closed, so the Chevy had to be towed from the scene. The bus, with two (2) uninjured passengers on board, sustained glass damage, but was able to continue on its route after Ridgewood PD obtained all necessary information to process a crash report.
Because Ridgewood is a city with a bus transportation hub and busy narrow roads.
Get ready for high density housing adding more cars.
someone needs to talk to New Jersey transit, they are constantly flying through the CBD. Their drivers are way too aggressive. I’m surprised that this hasn’t happened more often.
From the NJ driver’s manual: A motorist should always check for traffic when leaving a vehicle after parking. He/she should also check for bicycles or mopeds, which are sometimes difficult to see, before opening the driver-side door and exiting the vehicle. A motorist opening a door into traffic may be liable for any collision with a moving vehicle. It is safer for passengers to exit a parked vehicle from the curb side.
Likely a self-absorbed Ridgewood Millennial who doesn’t understand the laws of physics. Fortunately no one was hurt.
And people get hit all the time there too. Maybe there needs to be parking only allowed on one side of the street????
Maybe the door identified as a hologram and thought it would not be harmed when the bus passed through it.
The police need to slow down New Jersey transit look for yourself hang out in the CBD and you will see
