Village of Ridgewood – Budget hearing faux pas?

Ridgewood NJ, mention was made during Village Council review of the Solid Waste Division’s operating budget of replacing a transferred employee with someone “younger.” Last we heard, employment related age discrimination is still unlawful. Not one member of the Village Council, nor did the Village Manager, blink at that discriminatory remark; not one.

Former Assistant Treasurer Alleges Age Discrimination in Upper Saddle River Firing

Upper Saddle River NJ, Jeffrey Smyrychynski, a 54-year-old Oakland resident, has filed a lawsuit in Bergen County Superior Court against Upper Saddle River, claiming he was unfairly terminated in favor of a younger employee. Smyrychynski, who began his role as assistant treasurer in July 2017, names the borough council members, mayor, and borough administrator Theodore Preusch among the defendants. Upper Saddle River officials have not yet responded to requests for comment.
