Newark NJ, the Vatican announced today that His Holiness Pope Leo XIV has appointed Reverend Pedro Bismarck Chau as an Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Newark. Bishop-elect Chau, 57, is a priest of the Archdiocese and currently serves as rector of the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark, New Jersey.

Jersey City Nj,  The New Jersey Reentry Corporation (NJRC) and the Archdiocese of Newark announce the establishment of an addiction treatment referral program for individuals suffering from acute opiate addiction, effective July 1, 2023. The Archdiocese and NJRC signed a memorandum of understanding to acknowledge the collaborative relationship and coordinate and integrate services and care for adults with substance use disorders.
