New Jersey Teachers’ Pension Fund Identified  as One of Eight Seriously Underfunded State and Local Pension systems that could soon Face a Crisis

Ridgewood NJ, , the New Jersey teacher pension system is paying out about $4.5 billion a year in retirement benefits and other kinds of payments to 104,000 beneficiaries. Yet contributions by active teachers and state government amount about $2.8 billion annually, leaving a $1.7 billion deficit. When the market is good, investment returns help make up the difference. For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2018, for instance, a nearly 10 percent market gain generated $2 billion, which the fund largely used to pay retirees. This year, however, market gains have largely evaporated for everyone.

Paramus NJ, effective Wednesday April 22nd, until further notice, COVID-19 testing at Bergen and Monmouth sites will now conduct testing on any New Jersey resident, regardless of symptom status. There is no longer a requirement that persons must be symptomatic prior to testing.

Ridgewood NJ, according to U.S. News annual school rannking , Ridgewood High School is ranked 26th within New Jersey. Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement® coursework and exams. The AP® participation rate at Ridgewood High School is 66%. The total minority enrollment is 32%, and 2% of students are economically disadvantaged. Ridgewood High School is the only high school in the Ridgewood Public Schools.

East Rutherford NJ, John Grembowiec, Advisory Board Chairman of the New Jersey EMS Task Force, and Dr. Terry Clancy, acting director of the New Jersey Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services, and Mike Bascom, Team Leader of the NJ EMS Task Force, Monday welcomed a new deployment of out-of-state EMS teams to New Jersey.  Units as far away as Los Angeles and Palm Springs California were on location.

FDA Authorizes First COVID 19 Test for Patient At-Home Sample Collection

Washington DC, The U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized the first diagnostic test with a home collection option for COVID-19. Specifically, the FDA re-issued the emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp) COVID-19 RT-PCR Test to permit testing of samples self-collected by patients at home using LabCorp’s Pixel by LabCorp COVID-19 Test home collection kit.
