Bergen Community College an Inaugural Partner in UK Student Exchange Program

Paramus NJ, the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) and U.K. Association of Colleges (AoC) have selected Bergen Community College as an inaugural partner for a collaborative student exchange program focused on sustainability with colleges in the United Kingdom. Officially the “U.S.-UK Community College and Technical Education Exchange,” the program will pair Bergen with Southport College in England to collaborate on initiatives related to sustainable construction. ACCT and AoC officials announced program participants at the ACCT’s leadership congress event this month in Seattle.

Bergen Community College Music Professor Moves from the Classroom to Concert Hall

PARAMUS NJ, Bergen Community College music professor Andy Krikun, Ph.D., will move from the classroom to the concert hall for a special evening of original songs covering his career as a musician and songwriter. “Where Have I Been All These Years?” features material from Krikun’s journey with music as a youth growing up in Bergen County to fronting a seminal ‘70s/80s Los Angeles band and into the present day. The Thursday, April 18 concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre at the College’s main campus (400 Paramus Road) will benefit the Ron Mazurek Memorial Scholarship fund, which assists Bergen students pursuing music education. Tickets are $15 with discounts for Bergen staff and students; purchase seats at tickets.bergen.edu.

Paramus NJ, Bergen Community College’s technology solutions partner, Ellucian and its charitable foundation, have awarded the institution a $25,000 block grant to support 50 currently enrolled students’ basic needs such as tuition, housing expenses and textbooks. Accepted through the 501(c)(3) Bergen Community College Foundation, Ellucian awarded the $400,000 Progress, Accomplishment, Thriving, Hope (PATH) Scholarship to 25 college partners such as Bergen.

TESU Agrees to Accept up to 90 credits from BCC Grads in Cybersecurity as Pathway to Baccalaureate Degree

Paramus NJ, Bergen Community College and Thomas Edison State University (TESU) have established an articulation agreement that makes the pathway to a baccalaureate degree easier for Bergen graduates. A memorandum of understanding signed by both college presidents during the fall semester creates transfer pathways that allow students to complete as many as three years or 90 credits at Bergen before transferring to TESU to earn a bachelor’s degree.

Bergen Hazmat Deployed to Stubborn Car Fire at Bergen Community College in Paramus

Paramus NJ, a motor vehicle fire in the “B” parking lot of Bergen Community College’s main campus destroyed what appeared to have been a Honda CRV SUV, and heavily damaged a 4-door sedan that was parked next to it. The inferno was reported just prior to 11:00 am on Tuesday, 12/19. Firefighters from Paramus Engine Companies #3 and #1 extinguished the stubborn blaze. Technicians from the Bergen County Hazardous Materials Unit were called to address a large, fire related fuel spill No injuries were reported in the incident. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.
