Therefore, we will not be administering first doses until at least the week of 4/5, depending on vaccine delivery. Second doses are not affected by this.

We’ve gotten another half-a-million shots into arms in just one week. And importantly, there have been a total of more than 2.3 million first doses administered by either the Pfizer or Moderna two-step vaccines or of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. That means that we are roughly halfway to our goal of — initial goal — of vaccinating 4.7 million individuals. Ridgewood NJ, In a potential game changer for vaccine distribution, Pfizer and BioNTech asked the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to allow their Covid-19 shot to be stored at temperatures found in normal pharmaceutical freezers. Up until now, the doses had to be stored in super-cold specialty freezers, complicating distribution.

Ridgewood NJ, according to Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security researchers in the UK are initiating a clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of vaccination using doses from 2 different vaccines. Allowing (or potentially recommending) individuals to receive 1 dose each from 2 different vaccines could introduce flexibility into vaccination programs and potentially even increase the degree of protection from the vaccination. The UK government has allocated approximately £7 million (US$9.6 million) to fund the study, and early data could be available by this summer. The study aims to include more than 800 participants aged 50 years and older who have not yet been vaccinated.

President Joe Biden gets positive marks for his first steps in dealing with the crisis, although most continue to say the American public is not doing its part. A bare majority of the public is ready to get the coronavirus vaccine as soon as it is available to them, while others take a wait-and-see attitude and a sizable 1 in 4 say they will avoid getting the vaccine at all if they can help it.
