Ridgewood NJ, Senator Kristin Corrado is volunteering her legislative district office as a collection point for donated food as the holiday season approaches.
Totowa NJ, Following her call yesterday for increased training for New Jersey judges on dealing with sexual assault survivors in their courtrooms, Senator Kristin Corrado will introduce legislation that requires the judiciary to develop and implement such a training program. Additionally, the legislation sets minimum standards to ensure the training is thorough, and requires it to be conducted annually.
Ridgewood NJ, Legislation sponsored by Senator Kristin Corrado that would boost investment in emerging technology start-ups in New Jersey was advanced by the Senate Economic Growth and Senate Budget & Appropriations committees today.
“New Jersey has one of the most highly educated workforces in the nation,” said Corrado (R-40). “What we’re missing is a tax environment that encourages investors to put that talent to work in new tech businesses right here in the Garden State. This legislation helps fix that. I want to thank Assemblyman DePhillips for taking the lead on this important effort.”
Wyckoff NJ, A measure permitting public-private partnerships for energy-related projects cleared a legislative committee today creating an opportunity for more savings say Assemblyman Christopher DePhillips and Assemblywoman BettyLou DeCroce.
“Everyone will see savings as a result of this legislation,” said DePhillips (R-Bergen). “We won’t burden our taxpayers for energy upgrades in our public schools and municipal buildings. Public entities can get a more energy efficient infrastructure and the private companies can use the utility savings.”
Allendale NJ, Senator Kristin M. Corrado and Assemblymen Kevin J. Rooney and Christopher P. DePhillips today received news from the state Transportation Department that municipalities in the 40th Legislative District will receive more than $4.3 million for road work and improvements.
“New Jersey’s dense population, combined with our harsh winter weather requires continuous upkeep of our roads and bridges,” Corrado said. “This much-needed state funding will help rebuild and repair the roadways we use on a daily basis. Improving the quality of our local transportation infrastructure without raising property taxes is a win-win.”
Ridgewood NJ, Assemblyman and then Senator Kevin O’Toole is leaving the Assembly for greener pastures . While we did not often see eye to eye with Mr. O’Toole we wish him the best of luck on his new endeavor .
All good things in life must come to an end…
On July 1st my time in the Legislature comes to an end as I begin my term as a Commissioner at the Port Authority. Serving as your Assemblyman and then Senator has been one of the most profound honors and privileges of my life. The trust you have placed in me to be your voice and advocate is something I will never be able to repay.
While in the Legislature for 22 years I have tried to make the most of every day in our fight to make New Jersey a better and more affordable place to live. I take great pride not just in legislative accomplishments, but more so in the little things we do every day in our office. Whether that was helping a senior with Medicare, working with utility companies so that a family’s power is not shut off, assisting flood ravaged residents in obtaining money to rebuild their homes, getting our municipal first responders fuel in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene to respond to emergencies, and countless other things, it has been an honor to serve.
I am very proud of the things we have accomplished to benefit our State and improve the lives of its residents. These include co-sponsoring legislation to reform the health/pension benefit system, implementing our 2% property tax cap, strengthening laws to protect the welfare of children from predators, mandating certain preventative medical screenings for women, supporting our veterans, and honoring those who serve to protect us every day.
While I have been your voice in Trenton, the success in achieving outcomes has not been mine alone but ours. Your correspondences over the years regarding your ideas, concerns and thoughts have brought issues to my attention and influenced me every day. It truly takes a village to achieve any success, and I am forever humbled to be in this village with you.
As I move on to the next phase of my life, I wanted you to know how appreciative I am of your support over the years. While I am leaving the Legislature, I will still be around. If there is anything I can ever do to be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone: 973-239-5700 or email: kotoole@oslaw.com.
As we begin 2016 and this Legislative Session, I wanted to take this opportunity and inform you of a decision I have made.
Being a member of the Legislature has been one of my most satisfying privileges, and having been your State Senator has been my honor and privilege. As with all things in life, I truly believe that there comes a point when it’s time for new opportunities and letting the next generation of public servants have their chance to make a mark on society.
As such, I have decided this will be my last term in the legislature and that I will not seek re-election in 2017.
While I have decided not to seek another term in office, I intend to complete the remainder of my term – which ends in January of 2018. Until that time, please know that my office remains available to assist you and I intend to remain an active member of the Legislature advocating for issues that improve the quality of life for residents here in District 40 and throughout our State.
As always, I look forward to hearing from you at 973-237-1360 or email me at senotoole@njleg.org.
The District 40 State Assembly Candidates forum will be held on October 26th 7:30pm -9:30 pm in the Village Hall Courtroom.
The ILO of Bergen County ( LWV’s of Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Fairlawn, Teaneck and Northern Valley) is holding a District 40 Candidates Night for The State Assembly at The Ridgewood Court Room in the Municipal Complex.
We have Paul Vagianos a Democrat and an Incumbent David Russo Republican who both live in Ridgewood who are running. The State Assembly is currently dealing with property taxes, funding for The Transportation Trust Fund, Pension reform and Economic climate of Atlantic City.
Ridgewood NJ, In an interesting turn of events Ridgewood ‘s own Paul Vagianos of Its “Greek to Me ” has announced his candidacy ,running as Democratic for State Assembly – District 40.
The campaign will host a major fund raiser on May 9th , Vagianos is relative unknown outside of Ridgewood. So the question is why didn’t our Mayor throw his hat into the ring? He has more name recognition and political background and he has developed a strong friendship with State Senator Kevin O’Tool . Could it our mayor Paul Aronsohn has other plans or is there some other issues like his unenthusiastic support for the Roy Cho campaign against Congressmen Scott Garrett or maybe even some potential fallout from the Bob Menendez blow up with President Obama ?
To many the town question remains if he win will he take his planters to Trenton?
