Ridgewood NJ, Scholarships from Friends of Music are now open for high school seniors intending to pursue a major in music! Recognizing the possibility that eligible students might overlook this information, we’re directing this opportunity straight to parents. If your high school senior plans to major or minor in music in college, they qualify to apply for a Friends of Music scholarship. FOM offers two scholarship options for high school seniors—the first is exclusive to those majoring in music in college, while the second extends eligibility to those minoring in music as well.

Song-Writing Competition Winners Showcased at Friends of Music Concert at George Washington Middle School

Ridgewood NJ, the annual Friends of Music (FOM) Concert was live at George Washington Middle School once again! Faculty members joined local professionals to put on a fantastic performance including everything from musical theater to opera to jazz to rock. Winners of the FOM Third Annual Song-Writing Competition were announced and had their compositions performed by professional musicians. Competition entries may be of any length and style, and they can be scored for any combination of instruments and/or voices. Four professional musicians/computers judged the entries.

Friends in the Business Concert Benefit for Friends of Music

Ridgewood NJ, The Friends in the Business concert will take place Sunday, May 4th at 4:00 pm at George Washington Middle School. This concert raises funds the Friends of Music, which supports the Ridgewood Public School music program.
All the performers are professional musicians who live locally, and will feature a mix of classical, jazz, and Broadway. The concert will also feature a special guest – Jodi DiPiazza, a 13-year-old singer/pianist from Rochelle Park. Jodi, who was diagnosed with autism at age two, became an internet sensation following her “Firework” duet with Katy Perry on Comedy Central’s “The Night of Too Many Stars”. Tickets are $20, $15 for seniors and students, and can be purchased at the door.
