Mahwah NJ, the Mahwah Republican Club today announced they have awarded scholarships to two graduating Mahwah High School Seniors, Isabella Garcia and Elijah Greenberg. Isabella, will be attending The United States Military Academy at West Point, and Elijah will be attending Clarkson University in the Fall. The scholarship essay contest, titled “Do you Believe the American Dream of Living a Better Life Than Your Parents, Is Alive and Well?” was originally intended to award one scholarship, but two were ultimately presented. “Of all the entries received, these two essays stood out among the others. We are grateful that the next generation of young adults entering college and the workforce, have an appreciation for the commitment and dedication their parents and grandparents showed, in building our great country”, said Josephine and Charles Rabolli, Mahwah Republican Club members and generous sponsors of the award. They continued, “Both essays were worthy of the scholarship, so we decided to double the award, pay if forward, and name two winners”. Their son Charles, who is currently enrolled at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, won the Club scholarship award in 2014.

In the 40 years that Jack Thomson has been coaching high school baseball, he has seen a noticeable rise in the talent of players trying out for his team.
They scorch line drives, they hurl blazing fastballs.
But something is often missing.
“They can’t play catch,” said Thomson, a coach in California, one of the more fertile grounds for future major leaguers. “They’re bad at it. You’d be surprised how bad it looks. We have to teach them how to play catch.”
In modern youth baseball, where the culture has been transformed by the pursuit of the holy grail, a college athletic scholarship, the fundamentals are falling by the wayside in favor of flashier skills like big-league-style hitting and pitching.
Private coaching and specialized camps are proliferating along with travel teams whose primary goal is putting players in a position to display their batting and pitching skills at college recruiting showcases. These events are cattle calls, with everyone trying to impress.

Scholarships Available for High School Entrepreneurship Camp
Jun 24, 2015
Full Scholarships are available to the EntrePrep℠ Summer Institute, a one-week residential experiential entrepreneurship program for a diverse population of rising high school juniors and seniors. The program will be held July 12-18, 2015 at the University of Delaware, Newark and August 9-15, 2015 at Skidmore College, Saratoga, NY.
Program
In this intensive program, the participants experience being entrepreneurs. They work towards launching and operating their own Business-for-a-Day™, with over 20 hours of training and mentoring in support of this undertaking. They brainstorm, identify ideas and opportunities and develop them into their own Business-for-a-Day™.
They assemble the resources needed to launch their businesses and then run them. These young entrepreneurs deliver a ‘Concept versus Reality’ analysis in a final presentation before a live audience of their peers, mentors, local community and business advisors.
The students learn and implement economic/financial concepts and key life
skills, all required to create, run and evaluate their businesses. They experience the entrepreneurial mindset.
The program provides preparation for the future. The knowledge and skills students learn by this direct experience, helps prepare them for the world they are entering – one where understanding of economic concepts and financial literacy is a must and where most jobs are created by small businesses.
This is a unique opportunity to participate in a transformative experience.
