Ridgewood NJ, starting May 4th, 2022, New Jersey retail stores, grocery stores, and food service businesses may not provide or sell single-use plastic carryout bags and polystyrene foam food service products. Single-use paper carryout bags are allowed to be provided or sold, except by grocery stores equal to or larger than 2,500 square feet, which may only provide or sell reusable carryout bags.
Paramus NJ, the Stop & Shop off of Linwood Avenue at 859 South State Route 17 in Paramus is closing permanently as of yesterday January 13th ,2022. Signs near the entrances are advising customers of the closure and directing them to the Stop & Shop at 175 Franklin Avenue in Ridgewood in the central business district .
Ridgewood NJ, today, Monday, is Kings last day open . Green Way Markets are then taking Tues-Weds-Thurs to prepare Green Way’s opening on Friday. The 15,000 square foot store was built in the 1950s as a Food Fair, then taken over by Finast somewhere around 20 years later. Kings moved into the store in 1977 , The store is considered small by todays standards .
The parent company went bankrupt and Acme Markets, a unit of Albertsons, was the top bidder in a bankruptcy auction for 27 supermarkets operated by East Coast specialty grocers Kings Food Markets and Balducci’s Food Lover’s Market, according to a press release.

Over the past week I have read numerous posts about people going to grocery stores, drug stores and takeout restaurants and behaving incredibly poorly. A couple of tips. 1. If you are going to the store this shouldn’t be a family field trip. Only one of you should be the designated person going in and out. The less touching, interaction, etc. the better for your family, other shoppers and the workers.
