Trenton NJ, New Jersey Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Tom Bracken, delivering testimony this morning in front of the Assembly Budget Committee, said the proposed $56 billion state budget would inflict damage on New Jersey’s economy and its reputation as an improving destination to run a business. Bracken primarily took aim at what he called a “punitive and egregious” 2.5% Corporation Business Tax hike on the state’s biggest employers.

The US economy added 353,000 nonfarm jobs in January

In January, the US economy saw the addition of 353,000 nonfarm jobs, surpassing economist predictions of 185,000 jobs and showing an increase from the revised 333,000 jobs reported in December, according to recently released government data. The unemployment rate remained stable at 3.7% for the third consecutive month .

Ridgewood NJ, total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 216,000 in December, and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 3.7 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment continued to trend up in government, health care, social assistance, and construction, while transportation and warehousing lost jobs.

Ridgewood NJ, American high schools confront an escalating crisis: A multitude of students who commenced ninth grade in the autumn of 2020, amid the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, are poised to graduate this spring with minimal prospects for overcoming the learning setbacks endured during school closures.
