Like the irrepressible Crawley girls of “Downton Abbey,” New Jersey’s own Kopp sisters had three very large and very different personalities. As women navigating their way through the 1910s and 1920s, they also had to work hard to shatter Victorian notions of womanhood. And did they ever. One of the sisters, Constance Kopp, even was named a deputy Bergen County sheriff, one of the first American women to hold that rank.
