Village of Ridgewood Takes First Steps Toward Long-Awaited Cleanup of Franklin Avenue Town Garage

Ridgewood NJ, the long-standing issue of the abandoned Town Garage on Franklin Avenue is finally seeing progress, as the Village prepares to clean up and redevelop the property. Village Manager Keith Kazmark previously emphasized the importance of the Village buying the property, saying, “The issue has lingered for many years. In the next month or so, this eyesore will be removed from Franklin Avenue, and the property will be well on its way to being remediated.”

Ridgewood NJ, Dawn Cetrulo, Director of the Health Department, announced that January has been designated Radon Action Month in Ridgewood, in cooperation with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Radon Program.

Radon is a serious health risk. It is the second leading cause of lung cancer — and the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers. But because radon is invisible and odorless it is easy to ignore this potential hazard in our own homes.
