Newark NJ, exciting news for travelers! Starting in May 2025, United Airlines is launching five new nonstop flights from its hub in Newark/New York to destinations that no other U.S. airline currently serves. These unique routes will connect travelers to some of the most intriguing and less-traveled locations around the globe, including Nuuk, Greenland; Palermo, Italy; Bilbao, Spain; Madeira Island, Portugal; and Faro, Portugal.

The Port Authority Announces Commercial Airports Concluded the Summer Travel Season at a Sizzling Pace, Capped by Record Travel For the Labor Day

Newark NJ, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey today announced that its commercial airports concluded the summer travel season on a sizzling pace, capped by record travel around the Labor Day holiday. From January through August, airport passenger volumes outpaced the same period of 2023, which had been the busiest year ever for the region’s airports. The Port of New York and New Jersey surpassed 700,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) for the sixth consecutive month while outpacing activity from 2023 and pre-pandemic 2019. The agency’s vehicular crossings continued to show strong performance, holding steady at pre-pandemic 2019 levels. Ridership on the PATH commuter rail system maintained ridership at two-thirds of pre-pandemic 2019 levels.

Newark NJ, Plan to Expand Jet Fuel Tax Bad for Business, Economy, Consumers

Legislation to expand jet fuel taxes imposed on commercial airlines in New Jersey will lead to higher airfare costs for consumers and businesses, and make New Jersey’s already challenging business tax climate even worse, according to the New Jersey Business & Industry Association.
The bill is scheduled for a vote in the Assembly today.
