Washington DC, it’s well known that the people who really know what’s going on in Congress are often the staff, not the members. That’s why Punch Bowl News’ fresh poll of senior Capitol Hill aides is intriguing.

Letter to my fellow NJ grassroots Republicans

external content.duckduckgo 18 e1620814441653

Dear Patriots,

As we approach the Republican primary for governor, I am compelled to tell you two things. First, that I loved the Presidency of Donald J. Trump, voted for him both times, and that I will support him if he decides to run in 2024 to address the (already) many failures that Biden has imposed on the country. Second, none of the above matters in the coming race to save New Jersey from Democrat Governor Feckless Phil Murphy.

Bill Spadea’s Needs to Stop Attacking Republicans

NJG GOP State Committeeman

Whomever wins the GOP Gubernatorial nominations, the party, and most importantly the grassroots, will need to rally behind that person to defeat Phil Murphy. This candidate will have to both energize the base (including Trump lovers such as myself) and reach Independents and moderate Democrats (such as many of my family and friends) to take the governors mansion and start our state down the right path. While a primary campaign is a great way to show the policy and stylistic differences between candidates for our party’s nomination, it need stop at personal attacks and the unloading of decades of vendetta’s if the GOP is going to grow after the primary and expand its voter base to win the general election. Failing to do so fundamentally hurts Republican odds of winning against Governor Feckless Phil Murphy.

NJ GOP State Committeeman Joshua Sotomayor Einstein Issues Statement on Recent Controversy

Sotomayor Einstein

Joshua Sotomayor-Einstein

Hudson County NJ, I accept full responsibility for my actions a decade ago, when I was in my 20’s and long before I was elected to NJ GOP State Committee, which have recently been the subject of regional media attention. As I often have with other female friends, sometime between 2 and 3 years ago, I told a now former female friend a cautionary tale regarding men using my own immature and stupid legal past behavior as an example. That this former friend may have political reasons to now take objection to a text story that she sat on for years is not relevant to the regret I have for my poor choices and the fact that in the past I was careless with other people’s feelings. Nor does the fact that for at least a year after the story in question, which did not involve her but which she calls part of her “survivor story” and in which I described my actions at the time as “horrible” and “horrid,” she continued to text, call, and try and make plans with me, change the fact that I am deeply sorry for the previous way I treated other human beings.

It is my hope that by this coming to light we can all heed the words of the golden rule – “do not do unto others as you would have them not do unto you” – and treat all people with the respect every human being deserves.

MacArthur Bill Would Make it Easier to Report Threats to Schools

Toms River NJ, Congressman Tom MacArthur introduced two bills and is working on another to help local schools, students, and law enforcement officials address community and school safety concerns. The bipartisan Mental Health and Public Safety Partnership Act establishes a national pilot program to place on-site social workers in qualified police departments around the country, mirroring the work being done in South Jersey. The Modern School Threat Reporting Act creates new grants for states to create a mobile application (app) that allows students and teachers to report threats to local law enforcement. This bill mirrors the state law in Florida championed by school safety advocate, Andrew Pollack, whose daughter Meadow was killed in Parkland. Mr. Pollack, founder of Americans for Children’s Lives and School Safety, has endorsed both pieces of legislation and is collaborating with MacArthur on the third.

Bramnick bill forcing telemarketers to identify themselves continues to advance

Trenton NJ, A bill sponsored by Assembly Republican Leader Jon Bramnick requiring telemarketers to provide the contact information of their employer within seconds of a call is another step closer to becoming law following Assembly approval today.

Jon Bramnick

“People are bombarded every day by annoying telemarketing calls,” said Bramnick (R-Union). “When a person sits down to dinner or is relaxing after a hard day’s work the last thing they want is to be interrupted by an anonymous call for a product they have no interest in.”

Bramnick’s bill (A1954) requires a telemarketer to provide customers with the name, mailing address, and telephone number of their employer within 30 seconds of making the call. The bill aligns state law with federal law. Violators can be penalized. The Federal Trade Commission collected $120 million in fines last year.

“People on the federal Do Not Call list deserve to know who exactly is calling them so they can report any violations,” concluded Bramnick. “Telemarketers need to know there will be consequences for ignoring the law.”

There were 4.1 billion robocalls, including telemarketing calls, received in May alone nationwide, up from 3.3 billion in April. That’s more than 1,500 robocalls every second of every minute of every day, seven days a week, according to the YouMail Robocall Index, which estimates monthly robocalls in the U.S.
