Ridgewood NJ, Beginning Monday, July 6th, NJ TRANSIT will operate full weekday service for rail and light rail providing added capacity to improve distancing on board vehicles, which aligns with “The Road Back”, New Jersey’s roadmap for restoring economic health through public health.  Bus service has been operating on a regular weekday schedule since Monday, June 8.

NJ TRANSIT DEPLOYS ADA COMPLIANT MODERNIZED TICKET VENDING MACHINES

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT is beginning the installation of new and improved ticket vending machines (TVM) at several locations systemwide. Fourteen new TVMs will be phased in over the next week, replacing older machines at bus, light rail and rail stations. This is the second phase of an expanded pilot program which rendered great success in Edison, as part of NJ TRANSIT’s ongoing contract with Conduent to modernize fare payment systems and enhance the customer experience.

Driver Killed after Being Hit By Pascack Valley Line train

New bridge Landing NJ, a driver died Tuesday afternoon after his SUV was struck by an NJ Transit train in Bergen County. The Pascack Valley Line train, which was traveling to Hoboken, hit the SUV at 4:40 p.m. just east of the New Bridge Landing Station near the borough’s border with Hackensack. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene . This particular spot had several train car collisions in recent months .

It was unclear exactly where the car was when it was hit by the train, which had only 10 people on board, including crew and passengers  Pascack Valley Line service was temporarily suspended at New Bridge Landing station while NJ Transit Police were at the scene investigating and substitute bus service was being provided between Anderson Street and River Edge Station.

NJ Transit Reminds Commuters of Regulations on Motorized E-Scooters and E-Bicycles

Hoboken NJ, As Hoboken prepares to launch its e-scooter program, which NJ TRANSIT fully supports as yet another environmentally-friendly mode of travel in a transit-rich city, we’re reminding customers of the regulations pertaining to motorized wheeled vehicles on our system.  

E-scooters are not permitted on board NJ TRANSIT trains, buses or light rail vehicles.  Designated e-scooter drop off areas will be located near Hoboken Terminal for customer convenience.  NJ TRANSIT strongly encourages customers to utilize the designated drop off /pickup locations for the e-scooters.  E-scooters are not permitted inside the waiting room, concourse or on rail platforms and bus lanes of Hoboken Terminal.  The regulations are in place for the safety of all customers utilizing the transportation system, as well as those riding scooters.

NJT Main Line Trains Delayed Yesterday Afternoon Due to freight train derailment in Hawthorne

Hawthorne NJ, Track crews from NJ Transit worked late into Thursday night, 11/29, at the scene of a freight train derailment on the Main Line near Loretto Avenue in Hawthorne. According to posted reports, three (3) hopper cars of a seven (7) car freight train derailed shortly after 12 noon on Thursday. No injuries were reported, but plastic material from the cars was said to have spilled onto the tracks. Passenger trains on the Main Line were delayed on the average of 10-15 minutes throughout the day.

Ridgewood NJ, As snow and icing conditions alleviate and conditions improve following yesterday’s storm, NJ TRANSIT will operate regular weekday service for Friday, November 16th. Customers should expect delays and potential cancellations due to residual effects of the storm.
Gladstone Branch rail services will be suspended. NJ TRANSIT bus, rail and light rail tickets and passes are being cross-honored system-wide along with private carrier buses.
Customers are strongly advised to build in extra travel time and visit njtransit.com, access NJ TRANSIT’s Twitter feed at @NJTRANSIT or listen to broadcast traffic reports. Additionally, NJ TRANSIT will provide the most current service information via the My Transit alert system (www.njtransit.com/mytransit), which delivers travel advisories to your smartphone. Service information is also available by calling (973) 275-5555.
