Pedestrian Struck by Pascack Valley Line Train in Westwood

Westwood NJ, according to NJ Transit officials a  man was struck and injured Tuesday afternoon by an NJ Transit train in Westwood.

The pedestrian was hit just east of the Westwood Station at 4:27 p.m. and was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, NJ Transit Spokeswoman Kate Thompson said.

The identity of the person was not released Tuesday afternoon.

Pascack Valley Line trains are holding until further notice. We have received a report that a person was struck by a train near Westwood, and the area is now in the hands of first responders and investigators.

The train was on its way from Spring Valley to Hoboken when the man was hit. Pascack Valley Line service had resumed around 5:30 p.m. with delays up to one hour. A traffic advisory was also posted for Kinderkamack Road north to Emerson :  “Expect traffic delays Kinderkamack Road north to Emerson due to a NJT Rail incident. Please plan an alternate route.”

The incident was being under investigation by the NJ Transit Police and local authorities.

  2. The pedestrian ones are almost always suicides.
