Reader asks Will the Village Prorate Parking Fees for Tag Holders

” Purchasers of premium parking hang tags allowing for parking in the train station lot should be refunded a portion of their purchase price. I paid for 12 months of parking. Not 8-9 months. This project was surely known about when the tags went on sale in December 2018. Nothing was said to purchasers about this 1/4 year project which materially diminishes the value of a station parking tag (whose purchase price which went from $1000 to $1300 in the space of a year). “

Reader says , “The illusion of buying in RW as it is a commuter village is also becoming a tough sell”

“Right walk or leave early. As a resident who pays ever increasing taxes, over $200 a month to park in a lot for residences some of whom pay $35-55k year in taxes. All to get on a train that cost $300 a month that the commute has increased by at least 30 minutes a day, requires a switch to midtown, and are trouble prone.

The illusion of buying in RW as it is a commuter village is also becoming a tough sell. We bought here as the village used to support commuters and accomdate some of their requirements. All of this is driven by the ever increasing need for more and more fees to feed the out of control spending

Ridiculous planning and leadership”

What are we supposed to do? The lot is typically full before 6:45 am. Residents are just getting kicked around. Some of us have to get to work by train and have no option other to drive and park at the station.

Why didn’t the village preplan this and not issue non resident stickers to reduce the number of cars? There are ways to plan things. Really poor leadership, planning, and just a slap to commuters already stressed by a tough train ride

Unacceptable leadership we need a solution

Ridgewood NJ, when it come to parking its all about the data . Recently the council has once again moved to reconfigure the parking in the Central Business District .

The Council has altered rates, times , who can park where and for how long. Yet with each change comes a whole new set of problems . We went from too much employee parking to not enough, too little commuter parking to too much back to too little then too much again. Every change seems to present itself with a whole new set of issues .

“Smart Meters “Are Coming to a Town Near You

Ridgewood NJ, you think parking is difficult in Central Business District now, just wait. A bill is now before the Senate to make “smart meters”  which are now part of a pilot program in Palisades Park legal throughout the Garden State.

The “smart meters” work by snapping a picture of the license plate and the car after their meter runs out. Weeks later, a ticket is delivered to their front door.”We now can free up traffic officers time to do other stuff like drink coffee talk on their cell phones while driving and visit dunkin donuts ” , just kidding guys .

Officials say the parking meters will become a tool for law enforcement. With cameras on the back and front, the meters could be able to pull video evidence should something happen on the sidewalk or street. No need to hire up Police and those costly benefit packages .

Palisades Park officials say there’s an increase in parking tickets because of the 30 meters they have installed.

Is the Village of Ridgewood Anti Business ?

Ridgewood Police parked theridgewoodblog.net

Ridgewood NJ, while Ridgewood salon owners and hairdressers complain about the new license fee , saying it’s just too much for their small businesses. Village officials, claim the fee ensures proper safety inspections. Ridgewood’s 45 barbershops, hairdressers, cosmetology parlors and nail salons are all assessed an annual fee , but this is part of a broader effort by the Village to get the central business district to pat for itself .

In years past we have heard complaints from restaurants of century old fees on ice makers .Shops in the Central Business District  have also have been aggressively targeted by a ticket blitz which included tickets for failure to clear sidewalks of snow just hours before the Village had even cleared their own sidewalks and just minutes after Governor Murphy ended the state of emergency . Merchants also complain their cars are even being ticketed for momentarily double parking just to drop something off at their place of business .

Reader says , “These developments should have never been approved. Too much density”

20190224 091235

” Ridgewood as we know and love it is gone. These developments should have never been approved. Too much density. The developers and their attorneys do not live here. Taxes will only go up due to the extra services needed and I do not believe that these apartments are geared to young professionals without children or retired people as they were pitched. Very short sighted decisions … “
