Ridgewood NJ, a utility pole located in the 300 block of East Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood that supported three (3) electric distribution transformers was snapped in half when a contractor’s medium sized roll-off truck crashed into it on Monday morning, 07/24. One (1) of the transformers leaked a significant amount of fluid onto the roadway during the incident. The truck’s driver was shaken up, but refused ambulance transportation to a local hospital. Damage to the truck was minimal; it may have been driven from the scene. Ridgewood Fire Department firefighters mitigated the fluid spill and cordoned off the affected area. Power outages were reported by residents and business in the immediate area. Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Emergency Services provided traffic and pedestrian control. A portion of East Ridgewood Avenue was closed for an extended period while PSE&G Electric Division crews worked.
