Egg Harbor Township NJ, Earlier today, a Trooper from Troop “D” Galloway Station responded to a report of a large bird that appeared to be injured on the side of the Garden State Parkway.
Trooper Danny Lopes responded to the area of milepost 39.1 northbound in Egg Harbor Township and observed a Red-tail hawk on the side road with what appeared to be an injured leg. Trooper Lopes kept a close eye on the hawk while waiting for a professional, which he requested, to capture animal for medical treatment.
While he was waiting, the hawk took a liking to Trooper Lopes’ troop car and decided the view of the Parkway would look much better from the vehicle’s emergency light bar.
Unfortunately, when the animal rescue officer arrived and attempted to catch the hawk, it flew off of the troop car and into the woods.
If anyone in the area of the incident spots the injured hawk, we encourage you to contact your local police department to assist with helping this beautiful animal receive a medical evaluation.
