Ridgewood Should Learn From Past Mistakes

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood residents Steve Kim and Saurabh Dani continue to point out on on the Facebook page “It takes a Ridgewood Village ” ,the lack of transparency of the Board of Education . They both have raised serious concerns over plans by both the Ridgewood Library and the Ridgewood Board of Education to borrow and spend taxpayer money with little to no input from taxpayers.


Under the pretense of “surveys” where both the institutions sample residents opinions , the Ridgewood Library and the Ridgewood Board of Education move forward with previously agreed plans to borrow and spend with no weight given  to residents input.  When questioned with the simple mathematics , both institutions fall back to  name calling ,branding residents as negative ,trouble makers and dissidents. Even going as far to enlist other residents to try to silence their neighbors.

Ridgewood Library is Open On Sunday Pick up Good Book and Cool down

Ridgewood NJ, just a reminder the Ridgewood the Ridgewood Public Library is open the following hours:

Monday through Thursday  9:00 a.m.  – 9:00 p.m.
Friday                                     9:00 a.m.  – 6:00p.m.
Saturday                                 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday                                   1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

There are also area shopping malls which are open from 10:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m., Garden State Plaza is open in the restaurant area.

“Mr. Kim spends a lot of time documenting whatever he presents. Wish the Council, School board, and Library had enough sense to do the same. They seem to just pull abstract ideas out of the air and then stick to them as if they were the Gospel truth–circular stairway? Unneeded garage located in an area where it will be only used by commuters and the owners of the new condos which come with no way nearly adequate parking? The above mentioned groups can’t stand him as he consistently pulls the curtain back to tell us what “the wizards of Oz” are REALLY doing!”

I imagine a Taj Mahal money pit.

The HS library was “re-imagined ” a few years ago.

Library has stats on how many people use their facilities. They should do a survey by an impartial outside company. How many RESIDENTS use the library each month? Each year? How many RESIDENTS have not used the library in the last month, in the last year? Their current numbers seem high. I wonder if they counted people walking through the door, using the bathroom, attending a children’s piano recital, browsing, checking out material, returning material, using conference rooms …. I need to see the survey.

I do not know many people who go to the library anymore. I have access to an online University Library. I also have a Kindle. I have driven through the parking lot and found no spots available while attempting a visit to Village Hall.

I thought the Elks Club was for the water department.

…the fly finds this amusing that the park supervisor is refusing to cut the lawn for the library and the fire department he says it’s not Ridgewood Parks you should look into it and see what happens so he refuses to do it even though it’s owned by The Village something we’ve been doing for the last 50 years

Ridgewood Library Foundation Donations Used to Fund Preliminary Design of Reimange Project

Ridgewood NJ, the cumulative fees paid to architects for the Ridgewood Public Library Reimagine Project are $65,270 .

In 2016-2018 the library hired Peter Gisolfi Associates a preliminary design and cost estimates to update the library interior . Gisolfi received the bulk of the $65,270 of $55,620 for the work with $45,501 paid for thru private donations.

Reader says Millions are being Spent on Unneeded Projects

So depressed by this. Utterly unneeded. The current library design is horrible and the new one is worse. Let’s NOT move the staircase and install a skylight and set up a stairway to Paradise. If books are no longer of interest, just raze the place.

Millions after millions after millions in new projects (parking garage, sports lighting, on and on) and we haven’t begun to see how much the new apartments/residents will cost us in countless ways.

Ridgewood Library Continues to Keep Quiet on Renovation

Ridgewood NJ,  the Director of the Ridgewood Public Library  Nancy Greene gave a short presentation with some “facts and figures” on Wednesday night at the Village Council meeting. This had not been announced in advance ,and if it had been properly announced on the AGENDA many more people would have been at the meeting. Director Greene attempted to address some questions about the renovation but the lack of a formal meeting set up did not leave adequate time .
