League of Women Voters Interjects itself Into the “One Village One Vote” Petition Court Case

Ridgewood NJ, the League of Women Voters is attempting to weigh into the current  legal fight over the legality of the ,“One Village One Vote” petition to consolidate election and forever raise your taxes with with less taxpayer oversight .In a massive blow to taxpayers ,the November “yes” vote effectively eliminated the Ridgewood School budget vote . The school budget make up 2/3 of the Village property tax bill and stands at a whopping $115 million dollars .

Acting Superintendent Dr. Gorman Suggests “Snow Days” Are Here to Stay

Ridgewood NJ, at Mondays Ridgewood Board of Education meeting Dr. Gorman thanked the Board for the tremendous opportunity to serve as Acting Superintendent and shared that he looks forward to working cooperatively on the district and Board of Education goals as we navigate through this unprecedented time. He also thanked Dr. Fishbein for his guidance and wisdom over the years and wished him a happy and well-deserved retirement.

Ridgewood Teachers Allegedly Asking for VISA Gift Cards for Christmas gifts

….Tis the season of giving and the fly has head from a number of members of the Facebook group  , “Ridgewood Moms and Dads ” , that Ridgewood Teachers  have been allegedly asking for VISA gift cards for Christmas gifts . How is this okay? I guess being in the top 20% of all districts in terms of pay plus the pension and benefits aren’t enough?  In May of 2019 the pay for extra point scandal emerged but apparently the lessons have not been learned ….

Cliffside Park NJ, Will snow days be a desire of the past? The year 2020 has been like nothing we have ever seen before. It has been the year of struggle, uncertainty, and fear. In this time of unprecedented events, aside from small businesses, education has been severely impacted. I am a college student that attends a public institution here in New Jersey. Results from the pandemic, like budget cuts, have just been unfathomable.

Ridgewood Superintendent of Schools Outline COVID-19 Response

Ridgewood NJ,  at last Mondays Ridgewood BOE meet in the during the Superintendents report Dr. Fishbein provided a COVID-19 update and explained that the district continues to monitor the COVID activity in our community and surrounding areas. Many districts around us have transitioned to remote learning for a significant period of time. While we have had to pivot to remote learning in some buildings, most of those schools will reopen for in-person instruction this week. We have been successful by following contact tracing and guidelines of the NJDOH in collaboration with the Village of Ridgewood Health Department. As a result of all of the surrounding schools that are closing, the district is, however, starting to experience staffing issues, and we will closely monitor this situation.

Hawes Elementary School Goes Full Remote Due to COVID

Ridgewood NJ, Due to two recent separate positive COVID-19 cases of unknown origin, Hawes Elementary School will transition to all remote learning tomorrow, Monday, November 30, 2020. In-person instruction will resume on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Hawes Elementary School students should not participate in out-of-school activities during this time of remote learning. The situation is fluid and updated information from the NJDOH may
alter this return date.

The Search of a New Ridgewood Superintendent of Schools is On

Ridgewood NJ, at Monday nights Ridgewood Board of Education meeting Ridgewood Board of Education President Mike Lembo provided a brief update on the superintendent search being conducted by R-Pat Solutions, LLC. The posting is currently available online, and it is printed in newspapers on Sundays. Mr. Lembo was told there are a large number of applicants including some from out-of-state. A survey to collect input from stakeholders is currently being formulated, and it will be going out to the community. Based on R-PAT’s timeline, the Board is anticipating that candidates will be narrowed down in January.
