If the new statewide salary cap for superintendents was a roadblock set up by Gov. Chris Christie to protect taxpayers, it appears LeRoy Seitz has navigated a successful detour. (Goldberg, The Star-Ledger)
Gov. Christie delivered a familiar message at a town-hall meeting in Hammonton on Tuesday when he told an admiring crowd, “We’re cutting spending again this year by 2.6 percent in the budget I proposed.” (Rao, The Philadelphia Inquirer)

“The People’s Map” was developed by members of the Bayshore Tea Party. It was drawn in full compliance with the New Jersey State and Federal Constitutions and supporting redistricting legislation.
Director of the Polling Institute at Monmouth University, Professor Patrick Murray, says “… the map’s parameters are solid. It also maintains and perhaps enhances minority representation (basically as well as the map proposed by the minority coalition!) and provides for real competition for control of the next legislature.” https://www.bayshoreteaparty.org/

>If you think kids are growing up too fast, its best to make the moments last…
The recent controversy surrounding sex-ed in Ridgewood is a sign that times have changed. Whether you approve of the curriculum or are staunchly against it, it is important to understand that your children are in fact growing up faster. As they get older there comes a time when it is less about what you tell them to do and moreso about the foundation you have nurtured for them. The reality is that the discussion of condoms and dental dams is harmless in comparison to the harmful behaviors tempting teens daily. When it comes time for your child to make a decision about sex, drugs, and overall risky behavior, chances are they will make smarter choices when supported by strong family values.
As Ridgewood’s only travel agency, The Travel Center/American Express recognizes the importance of family values. Our experienced agents are commited to offering personalized travel planning that brings families closer together. Your next family vacation is an opportunity to create lifelong memories that will strengthen the relationship between you and your children.
If it seems your child is growing up too fast, it’s best to make the moments last.

>The Ridgewood High School Phone-A-Thon in full swing
The Ridgewood High School Phone-A-Thon in full swing. Direct calls being made to parents to solicit funds for Microscopes (microscopes in RHS labs too old and outdated at more than 20 years old), Large Screen Projectors, Student Laptops, Interactive White Boards and replacement laptops for the entire RHS staff of 155 because theirs are about 5 years old.
Funny a copy of the letter (mailed home to RHS parents) is not on the district sight. The letter is an outrage. What a disgrace that we have field lights instead of microscopes!

>Scott Garrett: the expansion of the ADA would create tens of millions of entitlement recipients who never had been ‘disabled’ before Michael
Almost 2 years(?) ago, I had a disagreement with a writer about Rep. Scott Garrett voting against expansion of the ADA. She said he was heartless and I said if you apply the new rules, the individuals covered by the ADA would roughly double. She contended that was absurd.
This is one of those time that I hate when I am right. Garrett said the expansion would create tens of millions of entitlement recipients who never had been ‘disabled’ before.
Well, I never thought the Stimulus or ObamaCare had much of a chance, but I never thought we’d be on track to victimize the entire US population. (ok – that’s a stretch).
>Abbot v. Burke: Not simply about poor, inner-city school districts
“Below adequacy.” It’s not a pleasant phrase, but it could prove to be a critical one as the state Supreme Court weighs what to do next in New Jersey’s ongoing debate over the Abbott v. Burke school funding case. (Mooney, NJ Spotlight)
New Jersey’s tax revenue for the coming $29.4 billion state budget will grow slightly, but still end up $4 billion less than three years ago, a nonpartisan analyst said Monday. (Method, Daily Record)
