Reader says I am writing to say how ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS the water at Graydon Pool was this summer.

Graydon Pool Ridgewood

I also believe Daniel Cramblitt, Assistant Superintendent of the Park and Shade Tree Department, should be commended for the SPARKLING CLEAN water at Graydon this summer! His turning over of the sand to kill algae spores and prevent algae growth, a new chlorine pump, and the fact that he was at the pool often to inspect, supervise, and answer questions, made a HUGE difference in the water quality! It seemed to have brought in more people this season as well!

Ridgewood NJ, August can be very hot . Reader says , “The pool is lovely this year. The water is crystal clear. In the deep end (12 feet deep) a lifeguard recovered a person’s sunglasses that had dropped to the bottom. Love Graydon so much. And the flags are helpful. No complaint about that minor addition.”

Starting August 1, half-price season passes ($60/adult, $55/ages 2-15, free/under age 2) will be available to Ridgewood residents through CommunityPass or in person at the Graydon badge office until half an hour before closing. Nonresidents may still buy season passes at original prices.

Day passes and guest passes , many queries each summer from people in other towns who want to visit Graydon for the day without buying a season badge. Day passes ($10/day) for the buyer’s own use are sold on site to Ridgewood residents only. Guest passes($10/day) are sold to any current Graydon badge holder, who must remain present during the visitor’s stay.

Democrat Van Drew Says No to “Jersey Shore Tax”

Trenton NJ, taxes are getting so outrageous in New Jersey even some Democrats are getting nervous . State Sen. Jeff Van Drew (D-1) said he opposes a seasonal rental tax.
“This is something that I thought a lot of us had made clear, that there is an out-migration of people from New Jersey and we have to be really careful on what we do, and we really have to be careful about adding on more and more taxes and fees. New Jerseyans have been taxed, tolled and charged to death.”

The fact is there are plenty of Beaches in Driving distance that are not in New Jersey

Reader says I know plenty of people at the pool this summer who want it open in September

Mobi Chair at Graydon delivered June 14 2013 Tim Cronin Dir. Parks Rec lifeguards 4

file photo by Boyd Loving Mobi Chair

How do you know there is no demand for Graydon to be open weekends in Sept. until summer ends. around Sept. 21.

I know plenty of people at the pool this summer who want it open in Sept.

It could be a PART OF THE POOL that is open. Not espensive for one or two lifeguards.

There is a demand and a big one for Sept. weekends.

As for that handicapped ramp. No one uses it. The kids play on it. And that is dangerous. Climbing the bars.
No wheel chair has ever rolled down that ramp into the deep water . And that is a good thing. The wheel chair denizen would have drowned. I am at Graydon everyday and I see on one uses it. No one walks down that ramp either . It is slippery.

In Allendale at Crestwood they have moveable rubber MOBI Mats for crippled people and they work excellently.

That is what we wanted what I wrote a letter about in the Record and spoke about at town meetings. But Aronsohn gang won out.

Believe me folks, no one uses that ugly ramp. I know because I am at Graydon everyday.

Also concrete area around ramp is uncomfortable on your feet. not soft like sand.

N.J. company tests waters of Airbnb-style backyard pool rentals, report says

LAKEWOOD —  A fledgling Lakewood company is attempting to put its own twist on Airbnb stays.

Instead of helping you arrange a short-term rental your home, Pool For U will put your backyard swimming pool on the market, according to app.com. The problem is that there are a slew of legal and insurances hurdles.

Pool For U says it’s a way for people without a pool to access one without a trip to the Shore or a costly pool membership. For homeowners, its helps them offset the thousands of dollars it often costs each year to maintain a swimming pool.

Problems could arise, though, if a homeowner’s insurance company found out, the report said. A policy would be canceled immediately if the insurer learned anyone but the home’s residents or invited guests were using the pool, the report said.

NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife : Get out and go fishing!

NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife : Get out and go fishing!

Ridgewood NJ, In New Jersey you don’t need a fishing license if you are under the age of 16.

Anyone age 16 and older must have a valid license (see Exceptions) to fish the fresh waters of New Jersey with handline, rod and line, or longbow and arrow. This includes privately owned lakes and other waters. New Jersey does not require a general saltwater fishing license but there are a limited number of saltwater licenses and permits required. Additionally, most saltwater anglers need to register with the free New Jersey Saltwater Recreational Registry Program.

Jersey peach production best in years, state says

CLAIRE LOWE Staff Writer

HAMMONTON — New Jersey peach farmers are reaping a bounty this summer with one of their largest crops.

New Jersey, which is the fourth-largest producer of peaches in the nation behind California, South Carolina and Georgia, is projected to produce between 55 million and 60 million pounds of peaches over 5,500 acres in 2017, according to the New Jersey Peach Promotion Council.

In 2015, farmers grew 42.2 million pounds on 4,700 acres valued at $27.6 million.
