Ridgewood NJ, add outdated signage to the growing list of complaints about NJDOT’s Park & Ride facility on Route 17 in Ridgewood.
Previously, Ridgewood Councilperson Evan Weitz loudly voiced his concerns about half of the bus commuter lot being cordoned off, which causes hurried commuters to park unlawfully in fire zones and on nearby side streets.
Ridgewood’s taxpayers who depend upon parking revenue to support municipal services should also be concerned that the free parking at NJDOT’s facility may result in reduced commuter parking revenue in Ridgewood, which could result in higher property taxes to support those municipal services.
Hopefully, Councilperson Weitz will be successfully in waking up the NJDOT decision makers who appear to be sleeping on the job.
Why don’t we get rid if the park and ride and build a turf field? We could always use more open space
Ridgewood doesn’t own it. The state owns it.
Those of us that work in the city need this facility, since there is very little parking in town (not including the overpriced empty garage). I’ve been parking there for 20 years and it provides a much needed alternative to commuting into Manhattan. The Village tried running it two years ago and overcharged everybody, so we all found other inconvenient options during that time period.
seems like Mr Weitz finally woke up and is very interested in this topic – does he use the facility? Maybe another dunk contest for him?
The Ridgewood Park and Ride on Route 17 was completely full on Oct 12, yet the parking lot by the old Airbrook Limo office was closed off and empty. Why isn’t this open? Also, what are the parking options when this lot is full?
