North Arlington NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of EDWARD A. TORRES (DOB: 9/09/1999; single; unemployed) of North Arlington, NJ on the charges of production of child pornography, possession and distribution of child pornography, debauching the morals of a child, endangering the welfare of a child, and hindering apprehension. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.
On Thursday, May 18, 2023, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of EDWARD TORRES during the course of an Internet child pornography investigation. The investigation revealed that TORRES used the Internet to view, download, possess, and distribute items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children. In addition, TORRES used the Internet to engage in live, one-on-one web chats with children, and engaged in sexually explicit dialogue. TORRES instructed children to expose their naked intimate body parts in exchange for payment and took screenshots of the encounters. Additionally, TORRES would instruct children to send him sexually explicit images and videos of themselves. Upon the arrival of law enforcement during the execution of the search warrant, TORRES hindered his own apprehension by concealing and attempting to destroy evidence.
As a result of the investigation, EDWARD A. TORRES was arrested on Thursday, May 18, 2023 in Paramus, NJ and charged with first-degree production of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4b(3); second-degree distribution of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4b(5)(a)(i); third-degree possession of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4b(5)(b)(iii); third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(2); third-degree debauching the morals of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1); and third-degree hindering apprehension of oneself, N.J.S.A. 2C:29:3b(3).
