Oakland NJ, early on Wednesday ,Oakland Police reported  that while waiting for test results at a local business, multiple victims say two male suspects offered them tests to speed up the waiting process. After the victims received what they believed to be a COVID-19 test, they provided the men with their personal identifying information.

The suspects were wearing lab coats at the facility and claiming to work there. Once police arrived on the scene, the offenders took off. Police say to be aware of this scam and others to collect personal information.  Currently, this is under investigation by the Oakland police.

After an investigation involving Oakland Police, Ringwood Police and Ramsey Police, it appears the medical workers and the lab the Covid-19 swabs were sent to were legitimate. No personal information was compromised. The investigation is continuing and if new information is gathered that would indicate otherwise the involved persons will be notified. Also, if people do not receive test results, they should contact Oakland Police .
