NJ Congressman Scott Garrett, U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 5th congressional district, joined us on air to discuss his displeasure with President Obama’s trip to Cuba. He has been an outspoken critic on opening relations with Cuban regime. Currently, Cuba harbors New Jersey state police murderer — Joanne Chesimard. This among, other things, Garrett says, are on a list of items that President Obama needs to discuss with Cuba to truly regulate relations with Cuba.
Congressman Garrett recently sent a letter to the president’s administration saying: “On February 18th your administration announced your trip this March to Cuba citing the significant progress made by normalizing relations. However, we fail to see any progress in extraditing the fugitives like Joanne Chesimard and William Morales, nor any improvement in the treatment of the Cuban people by their government.” The president has yet to respond.

I guess everybody (including Garrett) forgot about Republican President Bush visiting Communist China. A regime that did murder millions, represses human rights, supplied weapons and men during Viet Nam, etc., etc..
The difference with Cuba is that they openly harbor wanted fugitives of ours, and that they seized properties of Americans and Cubans who were expelled. This has been the reason for the embargo. The Left like to believe that the embargo is just some Cold War remnant.
What about Richard Nixon. He paved the way for everything to be “made in China.”
If there was a Republican president and a supreme court justice died 8 months before an election, the Republicans would insist on nominating a new supreme court judge and if there were objections by the Democrats they would say the democrats are blocking the law.
I will never vote Republican for that very reason.
selective memory I see, better do your home work , ie during Ike’s presidency Democrats passed a rule no supreme court appointments last year of a presidents term .The so called “Biden Rule” with is often quoted by the idiots in the main stream media and don’t forget Chuck Schumer no hearing 18 months prior to the last term of Bush .
To somehow say it was due to Nixon that we have lost much of our manufacturing base to China is a bit of a stretch. If this is the case, then how do you explain all the other places that also make cheap goods, such as India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Mexico, Philippines, Bangladesh, etc? Cheaper goods made overseas is and was simply inevitable. Those jobs will never come back.
