East Rutherford NJ, early this morning, New Jersey Transit Police Officer Mastrofilipo completed his tour of duty at Patrol District 3. While driving home, he came upon a major motor vehicle accident on Route 3 West in East Rutherford.
With no active first responders on scene, Mastrofilipo exited his vehicle to assist and render aid. He contacted the NJTPD Central Communications Center and requested local police, fire, and EMS response. He located an entrapped occupant in one of the involved vehicles. The occupant was unconscious in the severely damaged vehicle. Mastrofilipo checked for a pulse and began to render aid. When the occupant responded and became alert, Mastrofilipo continued to comfort her and he kept her stabilized for EMS transport. His words of comfort, and his actions are an example of the care we have for you both on and off duty.
That accident created a HUGE traffic debacle
