Orpheus Club Men’s Chorus to Resume Rehearsals Starting September 8

John J. Palatucci, music director

Ridgewood NJ, ” We’re putting the band back together!” was one of the famous lines from the iconic Blues Brothers movie musical. Well, we’re putting the CHORUS back together! The ORPHEUS CLUB MEN’S CHORUS is planning to resume in-person rehearsals starting at 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening, September 8.

Lord willing and pending our collective ability to beat the Covid-19 coronavirus by doing things like getting ourselves, our family members, friends, and neighbors vaccinated, Ridgewood’s oldest civic musical organization will meet on that evening in the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood thanks to our assistant conductor and pianist, Ron Levy.

Our new rehearsal site has real significance to the OCMC’s history. It was just down the street from the USR that we were first organized in 1909. Our first music director, Mr. DeWitt Clinton, was also the first professional music director of the USR, with several of our early members coming from the congregation.

The OCMC leadership has been anything but dormant over the last almost two years. We hope you have enjoyed our performances, especially those produced as videos. Mark your calendar now for the weekend of December 18 and 19, when our singing men will once again join their voices “in praise of song!”
