Ridgewood NJ, do not forget to add your voice and vision to the future of the Village of Ridgewood at:

Many local organizations and special interests have been attempting to push their agenda and influence the planning process . Last night Deputy Mayor Knudsen asked residents , ” to use their own common sense , take the survey, don’t be influenced by any special interest groups ,this is a plan for the future of the Village of Ridgewood , its really important that we don’t allow any process to be tainted ”

What should the Village be like in 5, 10, or 20 years? What trends do you think might have a significant impact on the Village in the future? What is your vision for the future of the Village?

The Village recently launched Our Village, Our Future, which is a Village-wide visioning process that will form the creation of our community’s next Master Plan. Visit to learn more about Our Village, Our Future and start providing your insight and input through the on-line Visioning Questionnaire.

The primary goal of Our Village, Our Future is to implement a community visioning process that reaches out to a broad range of Ridgewood residents and other stakeholders (e.g., businesses, institutions, community organizations, etc.) and encourages them to think about and discuss the values, principles, goals, and priorities that should shape the future of Ridgewood. This community visioning process represents one of the first steps toward creating a new Master Plan for the Village.

  1. I did – thought it was very poorly worded. Of course questions like “is parking a concern” are going to get everyone in agreement. But, what does that mean? Does it mean you are conerned we need more parking? Or concerned we are overdeveloping downtown, so we’ll have to pay for more parking garages? Or concerned we are overpaying now with the one garage about to be built.

I applaud the effort of reaching out – – but a survey that let’s people argue different things from it is not going to work.

  2. This is bullshit and too little too late. They should have reached out to us before they started the digging all around CBD. The destiny for RW is on the wall regardless our feedback in this phony “survey”. They have their own image in mind, all of them including this and past VCs and they will implement that. I hate this hypocrisy. They know it is too late, many people have given up fighting and the majority of residents does not care (only 400 people responded). It just makes them feel better.

  3. There a master plan G p s. Very sneaky, and very topical.

  4. Of course it is a phony survey with already done deal mutltifamily housing, ugly big parking garage, on narrow crowded streets, cutting away islands at train station, much development over the past three decades, stupid, toxic development , more Starbucks , etc on Rt 17, “civilizing” Schedler, what a frickin tragedy t for the trees and wildlife and US. TREES ARE US. And puttin in trees in the CBD and on street curbs and callin that good environmental practice. Hell, trees thrive in forests.
What the survey is for is for council and planning board to INTERPRET the survey their way and say the residents want ANOTHER parking garage, and to change a residential zone to allow more stores. And of course more apt. buildings. Ha ha You will see, if you stay in town.

  5. You idiots had your chance to come fight about multi family housing.
So stupid. That was like 2 councils ago. You are snoozing.
The master plan, this planning board and this council have tried to prevent any further damage. Blaming them is what you do if you have NO clue what’s actually gone on or is going on.

  6. Your Non Honor

We rest out case . The whole
    Overdevelopment scenario
and foisting the risk and cost
onto Taxpayers for generations of loss making
Parking decks for generations is a crime to loyal residents who built this town with time and huge taxes

  7. We can see the You idiots commenter is ready to hand over a larger portion of their paycheck to the MAN at City Haul who divies up the inceased booty from further pirating of our household purses that are stretched already . Never too late to not retreat ….

  8. 2020…. False promises by the candidates, still waiting for the master plan. Meanwhile we spent 250,000 for an outside consultant to tell us what we already know, traffic stinks, parking sucks and old people are moving out

    1. The new master plan will cap nearly three years of work by a four-person subcommittee that includes Joel, Deputy Mayor Susan Knudsen and planning board members Joel Torielli and Melanie McWilliams.

The plan has seen amendments during the past few decades but hasn’t had a complete overhaul since 1983.

NV5 is scheduled to present a draft plan to the Planning Board March 3.
