BRIDGEWATER — A family was ordered to pay a school district more than $38,000 after it was discovered that a student was living outside of the district’s lines, the Commissioner of Education recently determined.

The parents, identified only in state documents as “M.K.,” were ordered to pay a full year’s tuition, or $38,329.20 to the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District.

  1. Let’s do this IMMEDIATELY and EXTENSIVELY and expel any child whose parents can’t or won’t pay. Enough is enough and we simply cannot afford it any more.

  2. This would never happen in RW.
We’d just feel sorry for the criminal and pay for it.

  3. This, according to my HS kids, is rampant.

  4. Summer is a good time for the BOE to ferret out those who are getting a free ride. It is just too expensive. The rules are on the books–only enforcement is needed. Get a bunch of high school kids in a room and ask them–they’ll know! Or an anonymous survey or email/phone tip line. BOE, get on this, please.

  5. And maybe enforcement will reduce our taxes – LOL!!!

  6. YOU DONT UNDERSTAND…
THE BOE DOES NOT WANT TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND THE TAXPAYERS ARE TOO SPINELESS TO FORCE THE ISSUE.

  7. Understand that many who ovesee this process agree with the concept of sanctuary cities.
