Glen Rock NJ, according to Glen Rock Police on June 29th at 917pm, a Main Street resident contacted police after an unknown individual entered the common hallway of his apartment building. The resident believed that the individual may have also opened the unlocked door to his apartment. The resident was able to locate one of the individuals involved a short distance from his apartment and identified the subject to the responding officers. The subject, a 15-year-old Ridgewood male, was detained by officers until his mother was able to respond a short time later. The juvenile was released to the custody of his mother without incident. It could not be determined if the subject had actually entered the complainant’s apartment.

The callback number is not a working number and appears to be a possible scamming attempt. Please report any similar incidents to the Upper Saddle River Police Department.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood EMS personnel rushed to aid the adult male driver of a black 4-door sedan who was injured after crashing into a tree head on at the intersection of Bellair Road and Lincoln Avenue, Ridgewood early Saturday morning, 07/10. The victim was rushed by ambulance to The Valley Hospital for treatment. A flatbed tow truck removed the wreckage. It is believed that a medical episode may have triggered the crash.

Washington DC, a Swedish man was sentenced today to 15 years in prison for securities fraud, wire fraud and money laundering charges that defrauded thousands of victims of more than $16 million.
Roger Nils-Jonas Karlsson, 47, pleaded guilty on March 4. According to court documents, Karlsson ran an investment fraud scheme from 2011 until his arrest in Thailand in June 2019. Karlsson induced victims to purchase shares in the scheme called “Eastern Metal Securities” using cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin and other online payment platforms. Karlsson promised victims astronomical returns tied to the price of gold. Instead, the funds provided by victims were transferred to Karlsson’s personal bank accounts, and he then used proceeds to purchase expensive homes, a racehorse and a resort in Thailand. Karlsson’s fraud targeted financially insecure investors, causing severe financial hardship for many of them. Meanwhile, Karlsson went to great lengths to prolong his scheme, including rebranding, offering updates and account statements that provided assurances to the victims of the states of their assets, and offering explanations for the payout delays – including falsely claiming to be working with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Paramus NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of MICHAEL CARUSO (DOB: 3/20/1990; single; restaurant manager) of 113-D Marion Pepe Drive, Lodi, New Jersey on charges of distribution and possession of child pornography. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.
