Ridgewood NJ, the US CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) on July 7 published an update on the use of mRNA SARS-CoV-2 vaccines following its review of reports of myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) and pericarditis (inflammation of the thin tissue surrounding the heart) among some vaccine recipients. ACIP concluded that the benefits of vaccination (prevention of COVID-19 disease and associated hospitalization and death) outweigh the risks (expected myocarditis after vaccination) in all populations for which vaccination is currently recommended.

Bergen Prosecutor Investigates Fatal Teaneck Fire

Teaneck NJ, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Teaneck Police Department are investigating a fatal house fire at 1161 Arlington Avenue in Teaneck, NJ. At approximately 3:20 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2021, the Teaneck Police Department received a report of a house fire at 1161 Arlington Avenue. Members of the Teaneck Fire Department located a fire in the area of the second floor. During fire suppression operations, Teaneck firefighters located two unresponsive individuals on the third floor of the residence. Both individuals succumbed to their injuries from the fire.

Graydon Pool Closed Friday July 9

Due to dangerously high water levels that have left the docks under water and caused our shallow areas to become deeper than normal and unsafe for our patrons, we will be closing the Graydon Pool facility today, Friday, July 9.  All classes and instruction will also be cancelled.

UPDATE: Vandals Steal 4-wheel drive utility vehicle , Ridgewood Police Have the Video

Ridgewood NJ, as previously reported on the Ridgewood blog that Vandals stole a small 4-wheel drive utility vehicle owned by the Village of Ridgewood. Several sources say there is  video of the kids and the suspects are being identified  . The Same sources suggest that several kids were slightly hurt during the act.

Armed man wanted for robbery, multiple offenses, apprehended by New Jersey Transit Police

Jersey City NJ, on Thursday 7/1/21, New Jersey Transit Police Officer Krause and Detective Costain were canvassing near Garfield Avenue Station in Jersey City. They were searching for a suspect wanted for an armed robbery via handgun.

In a study on the effects of the drug in mice, scientists tracked the growth of dendritic spines in living mice and found that the compound increased the density of dendritic spines, enhancing the pathway for information transmission between brain cells. The study suggests that psilocybin may be able to reverse the damage caused by depression and chronic stress.

Big Oil Loves Green Energy Policies

Large Tree Topples Into a Parking lot of the Ridge Elementary School Damaging Multiple Vehicles

Ridgewood NJ, Multiple vehicles were damaged on Thursday afternoon, 07/08, when a large tree toppled into a parking lot of the Ridge Elementary School on West Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood. Typically, the parking lot would be empty at this time of year. However, the school building was being used to house a summer enrichment program, and the lot was relatively full of vehicles belonging to the parents of participants who were about to be dismissed from the program for the day. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as there was no one was in the lot when the tree toppled. A Ridgewood Police patrol officer was dispatched to process property damage reports, and to assist the owners of lightly damaged vehicles in removing them from the parking lot.

PSE&G Preparing for Remnants of Tropical Storm Elsa

Ridgewood NJ, as PSE&G works as safely and quickly as possible to restore power to the remaining customers from yesterday’s storm, we also are preparing for the first named hurricane of the season to reach our area, forecast to bring heavy rain, and high winds Friday morning. As the remnants of Tropical Storm Elsa make its way up the coast, employees are performing system checks and prepping for potential new outages.

New Jersey Joins Multi-State Antitrust Lawsuit Against Google

Trenton NJ, Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal today joined a coalition of 37 Attorneys General in suing Google for allegedly violating federal and state antitrust laws through exclusionary conduct relating to the Google Play Store for Android mobile devices and Google Billing. The States accuse Google of using its dominance to unfairly restrict competition with the Google Play Store, harming consumers by limiting choice and driving up app prices.
