NJ Transit Preps for Strike With Contingency Service Plan

Commuters Encouraged to Work From Home If Possible and Limit Traveling on the NJ TRANSIT System to Essential Purposes Only

Ridgewood NJ, As a result of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLET) membership voting down a tentative agreement reached between NJ TRANSIT and the BLET leadership, the BLET is threatening to disrupt the lives of more than 350,000 commuters by calling for a strike as early as Friday, May 16 at 12:01AM.  This would result in the complete suspension of NJ TRANSIT rail service, including Metro-North Railroad west of Hudson service.  In advance of such a stoppage, NJ TRANSIT has developed a contingency plan that would accommodate an extremely limited number of rail customers.  NJ TRANSIT strongly encourages all those who can work from home to do so and limit traveling on the NJ TRANSIT system to essential purposes only.

Multi Town Bergen Crime Spree Ends with Four Arrests in Englewood

Paramus NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of 18-year-old JASON N. AMADOR of Newark, NJ; 23-year-old RAHIEM A. MALDONADO of Newark, NJ; 22-year-old ALTAMIR L. THORNTON of Newark, NJ; and a 17-year-old juvenile of Woodbridge, NJ on charges stemming from a string of occupied residential burglaries that occurred during the early morning hours of November 26, 2024. The arrests are the result of a months-long investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck; the Cresskill Police Department, under the direction of Chief James Domville; the Englewood Police Department, under the direction of Chief Thomas Greeley; the Paramus Police Department, under the direction of Chief Robert Guidetti; and the Tenafly Police Department, under the direction of Chief Robert Chamberlain.

Former Ridgewood Mayor Ramon Hache sets the Record Straight about Schedler Berm

Ridgewood NJ, in response to an erroneous and inflammatory comment made during Tuesday’s Fields Committee meeting, former Ridgewood Mayor Ramon Hache clearly indicated that a berm at the Schedler property was built as protection from trucks barreling off of Route 17, not to deliberately make the property inhospitable to a larger athletic field, as is being suggested by some sports group representatives and at least one member of the Village Council.
