RIDGEWOOD – To free up parking spaces for downtown shoppers, the Village council has made changes to employee and commuter parking.

Cottage Place, the village’s largest municipal lot, will have meters priced at 50 cents per hour.

  1. There’s absolutely no justification for a raise to 1000 dollars from current 750 for taxpayers to get a 25 percent
Increase for absolutely no additional value.

This is bullshit.we park to go to work to enable our families to pay the outrageous taxes here

Another screw job .,for what to line the pockets of the town.this has to be rolled back to 800 max

  2. Ridgewood Parking Permit placards, which cost $1,000 per year, will allow Ridgewood residents to park at the Train Station Plaza, Hudson Street, Prospect Street, Chestnut Street, Walnut Street, Cottage Place and Route 17 park and ride lots. Non-residents will be restricted to the Route 17 park and ride and the Cottage Place lot.

A final public hearing on these ordinances will take place on Jan. 11, 2017 at 8 p.m.

Another shaft job from the town to the village taxpayers ..for what to fix some fantasy need to help the poor store owners,.this is crap..a 25 percent increase from current 750

  4. Those placards didn’t even exist until a longtime commuter finally got through about the inconvenience of dropping quarters while one watches one’s train leave the station, and that other towns had them. Now they’ve become a cash cow. Not every resident who wants them is making millions of dollars a year.

  5. This has to be corrected now to a max 10 percent in ease to 825 max from
Current proposed highway robbery of over 25 percent ..next week excuse will be they printed the new rip off fee 1000 so it’s too late.this has to be fixed now. Forget about the January meeting.this is an old trick shaft the
Taxpayers right before summer holidays and at Christmas leaders stand up
We voted for change..demonstrate that change now
    1000 is not workable.

  6. What strikes me a resident parking pass user the past 2 years is that the current non resident mark up pass
At 1500 dollars and now the towns undisclosed slipped in the end of year door increase from 750 dollars to
1000 dollars is so outrageous, offering no justification for a resident 25 percent increase while focusing
on out of town store workers parking needs.
This proposed resident increase need to be adjusted down right now to 10 percent or max of 825.its just outrageous .and not wait the excuse of some January meeting while the town strong arms the residents in the coming week for the extortion rate of 1000 dollars .fix this now,

  7. There is no justification for this increase – There was a 15% increase only 2 years ago ($650 to $750) and now a whopping 25% increase only two years later?!?!? When I complained about the increase two years ago I was told the town had done a study of the neighboring towns to make sure the cost was in alignment, which was totally BS since they would never share this study, and when I did my own study the next highest cost in a neighboring town was Ho Ho Kus that was charging residents $295/year – Sometimes I truly hate this town.

  8. Well well well…the pathetic resident of Ridgewood gets F@&$ed AGAIN. When does VH get stormed? When do we take back our village? Why are we letting this bullshit continue? That’s right, I forgot. Nobody cares….

  9. Just rec’d an email with convoluted parking instructions for various locations throughout town; spaces marked by special symbols for various uses – shoppers, commuters, employees…. Do they really expect us to remember all of these rules and symbols? I’m sure it looks like a perfect solution for the bureaucrat that designed it but to us regular folks it’s ridiculous and too complicated to be effective. We should have built the garage and voters only have themselves to blame. I went into town the other night at 4:30 for the first time probably all year, had to drive around half a dozen times to find a parking space, traffic was backed up, cars double parked, it was a mess. It will be another year before I return.

  10. 9.33.. It’s a complete cluster now..

  11. 9.33. The parking enforcement crew will be licking their chops as they rack upmore tickets .lthey lose more new business and visitors every week than any perceived lack of peak parking .its by design ..a canard…mismanagement run amuck..god forbid a visitor to the town doesn’t park nose in…they fix their wagon…big fat welcome to parking hell.. Fines …and don’t let the door hit you on your A…

  12. Guys, your math is wrong.
    It’s a 33.3% increase!!

  13. This is b/s. I pay 33% more for my permit but have less space options to park. Screw the shoppers and diners. I live in the town my taxes pay for the up keep of the lot. I should be able to park wherever I damn well please. Especially since you decided to increase my cost. The village board is a bunch of hacks. They obviously don’t commute. There more worried about superficial things like trees along the parade route then helping the residents. How much did that cluster fuck cost us around the train station. Took 2 projects to complete a job that left residents with 2 less lanes to drive and get from one side of town to another. Bunch of scumbags.
