Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood firefighters used a battery operated hydraulic rescue tool to extricate a Passaic County Health Department employee from her official vehicle after it was struck by a Jeep at the intersection of Linwood Avenue and Walthery Avenue, Ridgewood on Sunday night, 10/08. After being struck on its driver’s side, the health department SUV spun out of control and slammed into a utility pole. An ambulance transported the driver, whose injuries appeared to have been non life threatening in nature, to The Valley Hospital. The heavily damaged SUV was towed from the scene; damage to the Jeep was limited to its bumper and it was driven from the scene on its own power. Ridgewood Police investigated the crash.

That’s a very bad intersection.
The Ridgewood Police need to start ticketing the cars on the SE corner of Walthery that park near the stop sign. Their illegal parking forces traffic heading north on Walthery to be in the middle of the street at the stop sign and cars turning left onto Walthery from Linwood are usually a near-miss head on. I believe the police are aware of this but chose to ignore it and allow those residents to park there so the kids can play basketball in the driveway (where the cars should be parked.).
Go another way if it’s such a problem driving.
You must never drive that way or you are the homeowner in question. It’s a huge problem for anyone who travels that way. Why should I go out of my way because of unlawful, self-absorbed, residents?
Light on block west on Pleasant …but folks don’t want to wait at light so use other roads.
Hey whiny poster – parked cars or not, everyone knows to go to the lights at either Linwood or Ridgewood avenues due to the volume and speed of traffic
Extricate? and the jeep drives away? Laughable.
