Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JUAN GONZALEZ (DOB: 4/18/1984; single; laborer) of 10 Quincy Street, Apartment 4, Passaic, NJ, on charges of Leaving The Scene Of A Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting In Serious Bodily Injury, Endangering An Injured Victim, and Hindering Apprehension. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer in Charge Captain Peter Busciglio.
At approximately 12:39 a.m. on July 9, 2020, the Hackensack Police Department responded to a report of an injured party lying in the roadway at the intersection of Polifly Road and Sutton Avenue. At the scene, officers found a 27-year-old unconscious male with multiple serious injuries consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle. The victim was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center with serious injuries where he remains in critical condition.
As a result of an investigation conducted by the Hackensack Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigations Unit, JUAN GONZALEZ was charged with one count each of Leaving The Scene Of A Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting In Serious Bodily Injury, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1.1, a 3rd degree crime; Endangering An Injured Victim, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1.2, a 3rd degree crime; and Hindering Apprehension, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-3.b(1), a 4th degree crime. GONZALEZ was transported to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would also like to thank the Hackensack Po
