Pharmacist Charged in Hasbrouck Heights Motor Vehicle Collision

Hasbrouck Heights NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of KAL ELHOREGY (DOB: 9/14/1968; single; pharmacist) of 8915 Bergenwood Avenue, Apartment 38, North Bergen, NJ on a charge of Assault By Auto. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, and the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Colaneri.

At approximately 9:09 p.m. on October 24, 2020, the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department responded to a report of serious motor vehicle collision in the parking lot of 177 Route 17 South. Responding officers located a 2017 BMW M3 with two occupants: the driver, KAL ELHOREGY, and a 23-year-old male passenger. The second vehicle involved, a 2002 Chrysler Town & Country, had two occupants and was parked in the parking lot at the time of the collision. The passenger, a 19-year-old male, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered minor injuries. The driver, a 19-year-old female, suffered serious injuries. All four parties involved were transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment. The 19-year-old female remains in critical condition at the time of this release.

As a result of the investigation, KAL ELHOREGY was charged with one count of Assault By Auto, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1(c), a 4th degree crime. In addition, he was served with motor vehicle summonses for Speeding, in violation of N.J.S.A. 39:4-9, and Reckless Driving, in violation of N.J.S.A. 39:4-96. ELHOREGY is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ, on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would also like to thank the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
