NJ Transit Bus Strikes Two Pedestrians in Hackensack Crosswalk; Driver Issued Summons

Hackensack NJ, Two women were injured on Tuesday evening, September 8, after being struck by a New Jersey Transit bus near 170 State Street in Hackensack.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene shortly before 6:30 p.m. following reports of the pedestrian collision, according to Hackensack Police Deputy Chief Gregory Zisa.
Severe Leg Injury Reported After Woman Pinned Under Wheel
The victims involved in the incident were identified as a resident from Palisades Park and a resident from Ridgefield.
While the woman from Palisades Park sustained minor injuries, the woman from Ridgefield suffered severe injuries after becoming trapped beneath the vehicle:
“The woman from Ridgefield suffered significant injuries to her leg due to being pinned under the bus wheel,” said Deputy Chief Zisa.
Both victims were transported by emergency medical personnel to Hackensack University Medical Center. Officials confirmed that neither woman’s injuries were believed to be life-threatening.
Bus Driver Summoned for Failure to Yield
Following an initial on-scene investigation, law enforcement cited the operator of the transit vehicle. The driver of the NJ Transit bus received a summons for failure to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.
