The lake reopened for boating after being closed for a time during the initial investigation.
Officials say that someone cleaning the lake Wednesday pulled a bag out of the water with the fetal material. Officials say the bag contained “what appeared to be a human placenta and fetal membranes.”
The Bergen County medical examiner will attempt to confirm what the contents are inside of the bag.
The prosecutor’s office says it won’t release any further information until the report from the medical examiner is complete.
