To Our Community:

Please sign the petition to implement the adopted Schedler Park plan.

At a recent meeting, the new Village Council moved to replace the Schedler Park plan (approved

by Resolution 18-236), adding a full-sized regulation turf field. The approved plan, now in jeopardy, balanced the needs of the impacted neighborhood, sports groups, conservationists, historians, and taxpayers and included a 75×50 multi-use field. With required oversight from the State of NJ Historic Preservation, the plan was moving forward with expected completion by late spring 2023.

WHAT WOULD BE THE IMPACT OF THIS DRASTIC CHANGE? Ridgewood’s Historic Schedler

Property is unique and unlike any other Village Parcel. This historical Revolutionary War site is a full ecosystem of wildlife and vegetation (protected, state-threatened and endangered). Additionally, located along Route 17 North (a major transportation corridor), the tree/green-filled parcel filters out light, noise, visual, airborne particulates, gaseous pollutants, and air toxins emitted by diesel trucks and cars.

In order to accommodate a full-size regulation field, most of the existing natural and mature tree barriers will be clear-cut. The approved plan was developed after an extensive process and included a 75×50 multi-use field while still protecting the ecosystem in this historic district.

Please join us in moving the previously approved plan forward — no more delays, no more changes, and no more damage to this historic district!

    3. Yes. And the playground will be on the shoulder lane of Rte 17.

  2. I was right, this has always been a play by the soccer cabal.

    Field envy.

    60×90 baseball was a ruse.

  3. What about citizens?

    1. Read the plaque at citizens PARK
Generous long time residents contributed for a PARK
Not another dumb mud hole sports field
They are rolling over in the graves watching the newbies ruin it

  4. Citizens field is overlooked

    1. So is Brookside Field.

      1. Citizens is the best hill in town for sledding so that’s a no.

        No parking for Brookside.

        We should annex Glen Rock.

  5. What a disaster. Why Would any Council member want their name to be memorialized with this?

  6. First a massive, 12 million garage with no cars. Now a massive field (7.2 million and counting) that no one will play on. No worries. The cash cows, I mean tax payers, will pay for it.

  7. These plans are hideous. How about investing in a real engineer (not arborist promoted to engineer) with experience and expertise?

  8. Typical Ridgewood. What are they gonna do with the contaminated piece of land they are next to Ben & Jerry’s that is probably leaking into the water and ice cream. Then kept that real quiet that they purchased the property I guess they don’t want people to see the price tag for the remediation they’re going to pass on to the taxpayers.. Winter than people realize the village of Ridgewood is no longer the village it’s just another town. No matter how long broken is on the council it’s never gonna be what it was and it’s continually going to sink Until the big fat bloated Village idiots realized they’re not all that!

  9. Build another parking Garage there.
I’m sure many of the Schedler Park neighbors voted for the GINORMOUS Garage.

  10. Are you awake? Wait till they build on that land next to Ben & Jerry’s in the parking lot next to that. They are going to redevelop that hole Street. They have big sketching of that design already.

    1. Yup, two of the three amigos got what they wanted. pooch wanted development of Franklin. He did not get that in his time. That street is going to be developed next.
