Washington DC, former President Donald Trump has made a bold new suggestion—that the United States take control of Gaza, rebuild its infrastructure, and drive economic development in the region.

Trump’s Proposal for Gaza

During a speech on Monday, Trump stated:

“The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too. We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site, level the site, and get rid of the destroyed buildings. We’ll create economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area.”

He added that his plan would do something different compared to past U.S. foreign policies.

A Pattern of Takeover Suggestions

Trump’s Gaza proposal follows other controversial geopolitical ideas, including:

  • The U.S. buying or taking over Greenland from Denmark
  • Canada becoming the 51st U.S. state
  • Reasserting U.S. control over the Panama Canal

Gaza’s Uncertain Future Amid Ceasefire Talks

Trump’s comments come as American, Israeli, and Arab negotiators discuss a second phase of a ceasefire plan aimed at ending the 15-month war in Gaza.

Since the ceasefire began in January, key developments include:

✅ Several Israeli hostages freed
Hamas regaining political control of Gaza
Palestinian civilians returning to their homes

However, the future governance and rebuilding of Gaza remains highly uncertain.

Trump Opposes Palestinian Return to Gaza

During a Tuesday press conference, Trump suggested that Gaza’s displaced residents should not return to their homes:

“This is a very difficult situation. I don’t think people should be going back to Gaza. They’re living like hell. They have no alternative.”

He added that he is pressuring Jordan and Egypt to accept hundreds of thousands of refugees from Gaza:

“The king in Jordan and the general in Egypt will open their hearts and give us the kind of land we need.”

What’s Next?

As discussions on Gaza’s future continue, Trump’s proposal is likely to spark international debate over the role the U.S. should play in the region’s rebuilding efforts.

  1. We paid to demolish it, so it’s only fair.

  3. He’s wrong on this move. This was the plan from the beginning!

  4. If your frame of reference for this is the mainstream media, then I totally understand how you would think this is a terrible plan.

    1. And what does Mother Jones think? Or Alex Jones?

  5. This is a shocking idea and I hope it fails. After biden provided the weapons to destroy Gaza, Trump comes in to “rebuild” it. You can’t make this sh!.t up. One of the main reasons I voted for him was the foreign policy and moving away from policing the world. Unfortunately it seems like nobody can escape the old fashioned doctrine. Still there is a huge net gain when compared to biden admin. DEI dismantling alone is enough for me to still give him thumbs up overall. But I am under no illusion. Most of all he is doing is a show (still night and day compared to the nuts on the left).

    1. If you watched real news coverage, you will have heard him say that the costs would be the responsibility of the neighboring countries that seek peace, such as Jordan, Saudi Arabia, etc.

      1. Did Mexico pay for The Wall yet?

Oh, yeah, and peace-loving Saudi Arabia …

  6. Thoughts to consider- no one has untied this knot and Gaza’s monied neighbors have been unsuccessful or unwilling to reach any meaningful peace in that area for years, decades, or centuries. They know a sunk cost when they see one. Gaza has little if any shelter to offer and basics needs must be met by outside help. Few buildings there are standing and functional. Lots of reasons for the mess but if you want to repeat history, do nothing, try to negotiate some settlement per the last 50 years, or blame someone. Good luck with that. If you want to solve a problem, propose an idea and at least, that is progress. Trump’s proposal will generate the expected hysterical screams but like our own disasters, when it comes time to rebuild, current resident have to move away so they can come back to something sustainable. At least this President is thinking out of the box and if the idea is unworkable, ask the EU what is your idea? What can you do Saudi? The time for pious nostrums is over for all us who enjoy food, shelter, a safe place to live, and brighter futures. Have a better idea, let’s hear it!

  7. Right let’s Saudi Arabia pay for it, they have all the money

  8. The Donald is special.

    1. So is Elon.

      1. You said it. There’s a few others that are special too. Unfortunately they’re running the country right now.
