WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 5, 2025 — In a significant legislative win just in time for Independence Day, President Donald J. Trump signed into law the much-anticipated “One Big, Beautiful Bill”, a sweeping reconciliation package that delivers the largest middle-class tax cuts in U.S. history, introduces Medicaid reforms, bolsters border security, and fuels an ambitious economic growth agenda.

The signing ceremony took place during a Fourth of July military family picnic at the White House, fulfilling a symbolic timeline the administration had long targeted for this cornerstone legislation.

🇺🇸 What’s Inside the “One Big, Beautiful Bill”?

The massive reconciliation bill includes:

  • Largest middle-class tax cut in American history

  • Expanded Child Tax Credit

  • No tax on tips, overtime, or Social Security

  • Savings accounts for newborns

  • Historic funding for military & border security

  • Medicaid work requirements and eligibility verification

According to Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, the bill is “a commonsense agenda that nearly 80 million Americans voted for… ushering in the Golden Age of America.”

📉 Medicaid Reform: Spending Cuts Meet Political Resistance

Despite fierce opposition from Democrats and media outlets labeling the Medicaid eligibility changes as “cruel,” the Trump administration defends the bill’s spending discipline.

A chart from the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) highlights how Medicaid spending surged after President Biden made COVID-era increases permanent. While the new bill bends the curve slightly, it doesn’t fully reverse the spending trajectory.

Senator Rick Scott has proposed further changes to address the biggest cost driver: the federal-state Medicaid match rate. Currently, states receive:

  • $1.33 for every dollar spent on children, pregnant women, the disabled, and elderly

  • $9 for every dollar spent on able-bodied adults

This imbalance, critics argue, incentivizes states to overextend benefits to populations that strain the system, contributing to exploding costs.

💬 Trump: “America is Back, and the Best is Yet to Come”

President Trump celebrated the bill as a defining moment of his second term:

“This is the biggest legislative win of my presidency. It’s not just a tax cut — it’s a declaration of American renewal.”

The House gave final approval to the legislation late last week, capping off months of intense Republican negotiations and clearing the path for enactment before July 4th.

    2. It’s beautiful.
Would you prefer your tax breaks to expire ?

  2. And what about the no tax on tips and overtime, that’s only until 2028, it’s only for a few years. People don’t read the report they think they’re gonna have no tax on tips and overtime for the rest of our life no no no.

  3. Actually the Medicaid requirements are reasonable as proposed . Capping student loans is a great move too.

  4. Just kickin the can, and adding to the US debt!

  5. Just remember about 1000 village residence are on Medicaid.

    1. Read the bill . The work requirement is 80 hours a month if you have no children under 15 and are able bodied. Does this affect the Ridgewood thousand?

  6. Yes, the work requirements kick in in 2027, that’s all well and good as long as there’s employment for some of these individuals. yes I did read the whole bill because I have that kind of time. And there’s still a lot of waste in that bell $40 million for a garden at the White House that’s ridiculous. And how about arm, twisting political officials to switch over and sign it. They got a few nice incentives. That’s wheeling and dealing. Listen what’s gonna happen to these illegals that once they get sick, who’s gonna be responsible.

  7. I’m sorry this new text Lori‘s bullshit. It’s nothing to brag about you. Wanna make a big pack break how about no tax on Social Security, and pensions, then you’re talking. There’s a few states that don’t charge your tax on your pension like Delaware, the Carolina, Florida, And a few others.
