East Rutherford NJ, production of the highly anticipated Bruce Springsteen biopic, “Deliver Me from Nowhere,” is set to pick up steam next week after a brief hiatus. Starring Jeremy Allen White of “The Bear,” the film will resume shooting at iconic New Jersey locations, including the Meadowlands in East Rutherford and downtown Freehold, according to public postings and industry sources.

Filming Resumes After Illness-Related Halt

Shooting was temporarily paused in mid-December after a crew member fell ill. The production is now gearing up to restart, with new casting calls and scheduled shoots signaling its return to full swing.

Casting calls from Grant Wilfrey Casting of New York are seeking extras and actors to portray family members of the E Street Band for a shoot scheduled at the Meadowlands on Thursday, Jan. 9. The production will then move to Freehold on Friday, Jan. 10.

Transforming Freehold to the 1950s

A previously planned shoot on Dec. 13 in Freehold was postponed, but preparations are still visible. Several storefronts at the corner of South and Main streets were transformed into a 1950s setting. Notably, Saffron Fine Indian Cuisine was reimagined as a hardware store, and vintage cars lined the streets, evoking a bygone era.

Scenes Shot in Asbury Park

Before the pause, the production filmed several scenes in Asbury Park, including at:

  • Frank’s Deli & Restaurant on Main Street
  • The Carousel House
  • Convention Hall
  • The Stone Pony, where White could be heard singing Little Richard’s classic “Lucille”

Bruce Springsteen’s Involvement

Bruce Springsteen himself is a consultant for the film and has been spotted on set. Speaking to SiriusXM’s E Street Radio, Springsteen praised Jeremy Allen White’s performance, stating:

“Jeremy is such a terrific actor that you just fall right into it. He’s got an interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognize.”

He acknowledged the unusual experience of watching someone portray a younger version of himself but expressed confidence in White’s portrayal, adding, “He’s just done a great job.”

Star-Studded Cast and Crew

The film also features Jeremy Strong as Douglas Springsteen, Bruce’s father, and Odessa Young as Faye, a love interest. Directed by Scott Cooper, the biopic is based on Warren Zanes’ book “Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska.”

A Disney and 20th Century Studios Production

“Deliver Me from Nowhere” is being produced and distributed by 20th Century Studios and Disney, ensuring a broad release for what promises to be a powerful tribute to The Boss’s life and music.

Excitement Builds for Fans

With filming resuming and Springsteen himself vouching for the project’s authenticity, excitement among fans continues to grow. Keep an eye out for updates as this highly anticipated biopic continues to unfold in the heart of New Jersey.

  1. I never liked his music and I don’t like his left wing politics

  2. Multimillionaire but has him home classed as a farm for tax purposes. The Left gives him a pass on that one.
