Mahwah NJ, Ramapo College tested their water. Their results showed PFOS at 3.2 ppt, much lower than maximum allowable limits. Below is the bulletin they sent out:
UPDATED INFORMATION ABOUT THE DRINKING WATER
Ramapo College tested the campus water on February 2 for Perfluorooctanesulfonic Acid (PFOS). The testing was conducted by an outside party in order to get an accurate level of PFOS in our campus water after the Township of Mahwah reported an elevated PFOS level in one well.
The result was received and it was noted that the College’s water is in compliance with New Jersey drinking water standards for PFOS. Per the updated New Jersey standards, water cannot contain more than 13 parts per trillion (ppt) of PFOS and the results showed Ramapo’s water to be at 3.2 ppt, much lower than the maximum allowable levels.
Safety is always our priority, and we will continue to monitor the situation.
