Is Dr. Fishbein speaking as we would like him to speak. Is he being transparent? Is he assuaging our concerns.
Or is the Record, with the article that just came out on what happened: that there was fight and a child is in the hospital with a fractured skull and may lose the sight of one eye, is the Record more transparent than Dr. Fishbein. Is the Record article appropriate.
Should Dr. Fishbein have just stated openly and forthrightly to the public what happened. Would that have been more or less transparent, appropriate.
The children who have not come forward as witnesses and who may have videos of the fight and who may have not intervened during the fight, is that behavior similar to Dr. Fishbein’s not being open about what happened.
Could children be learning violence and cowardice and fear of being open and honest from we adults.
Can we assume that our transparent administration has immediately suspended the wresting team ? How could we possibly allow them to continue to compete with a Ridgewood school sponsor?
Can we expect our police department to execute arrests in the near future ? Can it really take 10days to get the details ?
Can we assume that we will see a number of kids expelled ?
This can not be allowed to just be swept away, nor is this a time for counseling as suggested by the administration. We need prompt, clear transparent action to let everyone know that bullying, gang fighting, team pack mentality, and not doing the right thing will not be tolerated at all
Someone knows who did it, and has proof by video. The school seems to indicate that this was ‘just a fight’ and doesn’t admit to the seriousness of the consequences. This wasn’t someone’s “little baby boy” doing the fighting. It was a teen who allowed his innate cruelty to overcome his common sense. There should be absolutely no question that there should be legal consequences.

If there is “violence” it is the duty of the Supt. to be forthcoming in saying what happened. Otherwise he is stoking fears. He is teasing the public. He is using sickening euphemisms and protecting himself by saying , such things as “after school hours.” He obviously donsn’t care about the children. He is fearful of any blame being cast on himself. And by being so fearful he got what he most feared, his true colors are revealed.
People are constantly criticizing the media, but by God, I thank God, for the freedom and truthfulness and prompt reporting of the press. Thank God for the North Jersey Record. They came out with what happened. So did a Ridgewood mother on channel 12 news. Channel 12 interviewed her on what happened and her reaction and she was highly critical of the Ridgewood school “administration” for not being open and honest about what happened and the bullying that is happening regularly at Ridgewood High School. In her interview the woman’s name and personage was revealed. What a wonderful woman.
Again, kids are learning to be moral cowards from we adults. The message is…keep to yourself, if you see a problem and it is not your concern, even if someone is getting killed, walk away. Take care of yourself and the hell with everyone else.
Except of course for the wonderful volunteers who plant flowers and raise money publicly for charities and get their pictures in the newspaper big time. And parties and publicity given to them. Only then children are told they can help another person in need.
Well, that woman on channel 12, she has a moral character of gold.

SO…
1) He DID NOT “dispel and address rumors”
He neither stated facts about the incident nor specifically denied any of the ongoing rumors
.
2) He claimed the mantle of “TRANSPARENCY” – while being opaque AND hiding behind “whenever possible”

3) He decided to “punish” the larger community of students by implying collective guilt and via the necessity for “witness behavior” training/conditioning for the ENTIRE (mostly innocent) school population, rather than specifically disciplining/educating the ACTUAL small percentage of offenders – fight participants and voyeurs.
This is just WEAK leadership.

Many many stories have continuations until the whole story/truth is revealed. All the time. You never get the whole story at once. That doesn’t mean you do not tell what happened. My opinion.

There is a law in this country that protects the privacy of minors and the school’s administration is respecting that law. Just because there are news outlets quoting Facebook posts it does not equate to reporting facts. Give the School administration and the policy time to complete their investigations!
Many friends of the blog do not even have kids. Or at least no kids in the school system.
Accusations don’t have to be made when parents are shining a spot light on their families and friends by victim blaming, implying there is another side of the story but not saying what it is, and claiming to have seen many videos of the event, which leads everyone to ask, how did you get the video? Did your child film it. Did your friends children film it.
