Ridgewood NJ, “Well once again it is about Betsy our Sheep. We have been summoned to court on November 9th @4:30pm by the town of Ridgewood because we had Betsy on the sidewalk in front of our store. The town deems her unsafe. It’s not like she is running around or grazing. She is an icon. Help Save Our Sheep! Come into any of our locations and sign our petition for the Ridgewood Mayor and Council to permit Betsy to adorn our store.”
Healthy Choice Organic Mattress of Ridgewood ,14 Wilsey Sq ,Ridgewood, New Jersey ,Call (201) 857-3245, sheep is being threatened with eviction.
While the wall still stands the sheep must go ? “What you say , And the town lets that terrible stone wall in front of Its Greek to Me stand, and continually bang every car door? I’d rather have a nice sweet woolly sheep! All the sidewalk cafes which make you run a gauntlet are ok, and the sheep isn’t allowed? baaaaa humbug!”
Readers ask “How does the Ridgewood Chamber feel about Betsy?Do you have their firm support….like your mattresses?”
Or is it , “all about who you know and how big of a player you are, not about fairness.”
By all accounts , ” stone planters are illegal if anybody gets hurt by one or hits one with your car they are responsible person Who installed it”
Will the Village through Betsey to the wolves , will that wall still stand ,stay tuned ……
Why the sheep ,decorations, hay bales, etc. are considered an issue when the wall in front of “It’s Greek To Me ” is allowed to remain is really a mystery. Everything else on the sidewalks can be moved or repositioned. The wall makes it difficult to exit your car on the passenger side, get on the sidewalk, put money in the meter and it appears to be a permanent structure.
The correct solution by the judge would be to use this as a way to clear all the sidewalks of everything, including the sheep and the tables and chairs and The Wall and the sidewalk signs that the council foolishly allowed store owners to place outside in hopes of luring customers. Pedestrians have become third-class citizens and a big accident is waiting to happen. Now, with winter coming, would be the perfect time to clear the decks, literally.
A clear case of selective enforcement of local ordinances. It’s more than likely that this sheep does infringe some ordinance, but if that’s the case, then there needs to be the same enforcement applied everywhere else.
I see planters on the sidewalk directly behind the sheep in the picture, were they ticketed also?
11:31 is spot on. If the sheep goes, the wall must come down. What’s good for the Sheep is good for the Greek.
I guess some store owners with their walls, tables, and general sidewall blockage felt she interfered with people trying to get through their obstacle course.
When is the court date for “Illegal Wall Boy” ?
As of Ridgewood regimen for 40 years I’m so embarrassed that this business owner received a summons for such nonsense. If this business owner summons is not thrown out by the village attorney prosecutor and judge mayor and council manager Building department zoning department then that will be a shit storm like I never seen before. Because then we’re going to get every major news network in the CBD in the village Ridgewood to ride around take pictures of all the legal structures that will put up by you know hoo and where .and by hoo. And upper officials let it slide by. Because of dirty politics in the village of Ridgewood slime balls
Proving once again that you can’t get away with anything if you have no juice. If you have juice, the sky’s the limit.
This council doesn’t have spine to give ticket for the wall and they are ready to throw the book for this cute Betsy?
We’ll see what happens
The fish stinks from the top ,,,,,,,,,,,,
Elections coming up next year.
My guess is the town will plea bargain this down to a small fine as to not have a court appearance and open up pandoras box
